Piscifun Phantom baitcaster reel MAGNETIC BRAKE MOD!

as i understand lenz's law and how it applies to reels the mags have greater effect the faster the spool spins. So spinning with your fingers you will fill little if any effect from the mags. But when you really fling that thing and the spool gets up to speed the spool itself actually pushes against the magnetic field (not the magnets) which creates like a "magnetic friction" on the spool end. i have watched a demonstration where a magnet was placed on an aluminum plate. As the aluminum plate was spun faster and faster the magnet would lift up off the plate. The faster the plat was spun the farther the magnet would rise. The explenation offer was that the aluminum plate was pushing against the magnetic field. This in turn pushed the magnet up and away from the plate.

Hi l I don't know but one thing I do know is this reel works way better now with the magnets how I placed them.

@@PHFishingBiking oh i can see the change in yours. ive only this year gotten into baitcasters and as i was deciding which one to get i discovered there were different braking systems and i had not clue what was best for me. Fishing from the bank and needing some distance i settled on i magnetic brakds. Im learning and coming to realise that depending on what you want to do should determine which braking system you choose. i enjoyed your video thanks for making it.

@@BoandBeceadventures Hi I always used spinning and got into baitcasters a couple years ago.. I learned nothing is better than a spinning set up for land fishing here's why #one for me from the bank with so much shrubs sticks trees bushes all around a spinning set up just kills the baitcaster in tight quarters you cant cast a baitcaster in this type of place and if you can the cast wont go far at all and a spinning set up will cast much further. also for the bank I find spinning to be better once again for casting a spinning set up casts so much further you have more chances to catch more fish because you can scan and reach more places in the water with a spinning set up. I think on a big boat is the spot the baitcasters are good because then you only cast like 20- 30ft ...even on my kayak i like the spinning because it casts further and you can reach the fish without getting close with the kayak and spooking them... I just went the other day from land and I could cast my spinning rod with a way lighter lure 2 times as far as my baitcaster in a tight spot. the best system for baitcaser other than the digital chip system shimano DC type then the diawa system second, the cheapest and best system is the centrifugal braking system it's much better than just magnet systems.

Thanks, this reel literally felt like 0 to 10 on the mag brake you could barely see a difference when you spun up the spool.. now it's much better.. probably why they just took the magnet brakes right off there new phantom x model all together. But after this mod you can tune it and it works a lot better than stock now.

Hello! Don't you know that the piscifun phantom has two braking systems? In addition to the magnetic system on the palmside, there are also centrifugal brakes on the spool. An optimal brake setting using the magnets alone does not make sense here. So you could have left the optimization in this case. Anyway, thank you for giving me valuable tips on how to optimize magnetic brakes! I have many old ABU Garcia reels with the traditional magtrax system, where washers or e-clips can be used very well.

Hi Yes I know it had two types of brakes but with this phantom the magnetic brakes hardly do anything at all so with what I did it makes them work a little better and made the reel cast and perform much better after my modification to the magnets. It's probably why the newer version only uses the internal braking system and no longer uses the magnet system with it. Thanks for watching.

I put spacers under the mag carrier so the screws stay tight.or if theres lots of room i put a spring in under the carrier screws and adjust it kinda like a guitar pick up. love the vids later

I have this reel and you had the mag brakes set to zero on the initial demonstration........odd.

Hi I did because if you do what I did with the brakes set to 0 and then max it will be almost the same...make sure internal braking is off also when doing this... But after my mod the spool slows down more with the magnet setting and makes the reel work much better. Thanks for watching.

Hi I am sorry I don't recall, I know it was a small one used for RC cars. you can probably measure the magnets and just find one that is close so it will fit inside the holder. Thanks for watching.
