There is a lot to think about in this video! Reliability, Power, Accuracy. And does it really matter if you don’t get 50 joules?

Great job, Scott. Have you ever daddled with First Strike FSC? As far as I believe they are the best all-around launchers (TO ME ), they excel in every way. I'm biased because I build them. I own just about every launcher except the Pistelle and the Mercury 68, which I am debating whether to buy. I trust your opinion after watching your videos. Again great job
@airgunnerreviews78882 ай бұрын
Yes I have 2 FSC’s they are awesome launchers and ample parts available with endless mods to be had! The Pistelle handle is the biggest difference it is the same width as the launcher because the C02 and mag are separate. I have another video dropping with the correct replacement o-rings to purchase from Amazon. I have shot over 24 Co2’s with no issues but we know how high power wears on them!

Thanks for the extensive testing - much appreciated! I had originally pre-ordered the “40 Joule” Umarex HDX 68 from Defense Innovations back in April, but they let me switch my order to the Pistelle 68. I have not tested it out yet. Hope to test it soon.
@airgunnerreviews78883 ай бұрын
So far the Pistelle has gone beyond my expectations, now I see a few videos of them being taken apart and it looks fairly easy to replace 0-rings so I think this is a game changer! I hope you like it!

Just under 40j is a excellent avg for LL and yes that is a good grouping of 7 shots on C02 considering it's not always a given you'll land the first shot at it's highest power. Great demo test and great camera placement.

A perfect explanation. Very concise. I always call out the hot shot as such in my videos. Average is what counts. Cumulative damage if you will. There is only so much co2 to go around. Higher first shot, lower finish and vice a versa. I always think of co2 as having a power band like an engine. All we can do is move the power around unless we increase displacement.
@airgunnerreviews78883 ай бұрын
That is my thinking as well! I’m amazed on how these companies keep pushing more fps out of 12 grams!

The joules vary depending on which brand of projectiles you are using. Not all are the exactly the same size regardless of them all being .68 caliber. Tests have been performed where the balls that fit snug such as .684 in the chamber fire at higher joules where the smaller size like .680 / .682 allows more air to be released down the barrel decreasing the force in which the projectile leaves the barrel. Try different projectile manufacturers and compare them. You can measure the ball size with a digital caliper or a tool like Lapco Paintball Billet precision gauge. You can google the name. It’s well worth it for about $20. I also have found with launchers that firing too fast between shots can reduce the joules about 1-3. The reason is the co2 can make the launcher too cold thereby affecting its performance. Letting the launcher rest for about 5 minutes between cartridge changes does tend to help at least in my testing.

Although I like seeing high numbers, I'd rather have consistent numbers when defending myself or my family. Thank you for making the comparison chart to show us the real numbers.
@joesolo77193 ай бұрын
For me my byrna LE is the most inconsistent. I get the first round coming out hot at 25J, then it drops fast on the second round like 17J, then further on the third round at 15J, then 12, to 11. It stays average around 11J.
@Joreel3 ай бұрын
@joesolo7719 There is something wrong with your LE... It should be averaging 14-16 Joules.

So I have a question for you, I know you've shot the X68 quite a bit now have you had any problems with O-rings blowing or loss of air ever I'm thinking no or you would have posted it, there have been others who have but I don't know how much messing they've done as for me not yet but I haven't shot mine a lot yet and haven't messed with the internals if it ant broke leave it alone that's my moto

I noticed my Pistelle also shoots high. I thought it was the lighter weight ammo I was using, but it appears they all do that regardless of ammo type. The rails are also a sliver too small. I got my Olight to fit ok, but there's still just the tiniest bit of wiggle to it. Still, the best LL you can get for the money in my opinion...
@airgunnerreviews78883 ай бұрын
I noticed that with the rails also and have the Olight with the quick release clamp that works fine too. You’re right you definitely have to aim low at around 20 feet. Thanks for your input!

Would be awesome if companies would produce holsters for this, or even carbine kits that would allow shouldering. This outperforms all ltl "carbines," so it'd only be fitting. I'd 3d design/print one, I just can't afford the dang launcher lol.
@airgunnerreviews78882 ай бұрын
I use a leather holster from Scorpion Tactical that I really like! Unfortunately these launchers don’t get any cheaper!
@j.d.1232 ай бұрын
@airgunnerreviews7888 Amen to that. At least this one makes sense given how much it puts the others to shame lol. I have a leather holster that'd probably work as well, I just prefer kydex or similar for the purpose of better concealment. Definitely wins on comfort, though!

Hi Scott, I recently worked on the HDP 50 compact and removed the restrictor. It was much more powerful but it only shot 3 to 4 times little disappointing. I also try to drill a hole in the restrictor and that didn’t work out too well it sounded like a bunch of air was escaping on the first shot, Just wondering, are there any tricks that you know of? That would help thank you, Tony
@airgunnerreviews78882 ай бұрын
Hi Tony! with an 8 gram C02 cartridge your pretty limited on shot count with the restrictor removed, even the HDP50 with the 12 gram C02 will only give you 6 good power shots and the C02 is spent! I think you have done all you can do with the compact! You may want to think about upgrading to the standard HD50 size there is a huge power and accuracy difference.
@tonytvland71462 ай бұрын

Very informative. Is one able to increase joules?
@airgunnerreviews78883 ай бұрын
only by adding a longer barrel, Sterling self defense is making 10” long barrels for the x68 and it looks like a power increase to around 70 joules. I like the looks of the launcher as is but it would offer more options for home self defense
@smokingunclefrank60372 ай бұрын
Well I never messed with it and it still started leaking, so I contacted MCS they said it's been a problem with some of them, there sending me a new O-ring and said there should be a kit available in about 2 weeks, the dam thing uses some odd O-rings out of all the O-ring assortments I couldn't find one to fit properly guess you got one of the good ones. I think maybe letting it set allowed the co2 to stabilize and worm up that may be why your getting such good numbers

The official numbers published by the manufacturer on their website / and in the catalogue are 35 Joules. Don’t know why DI has published 35-50 Joules.
@airgunnerreviews78883 ай бұрын
I think it’s smart on their part to give a broad range of power capabilities to cover themselves knowing KZbin is going to keep them in check! Their website states power up to 35 joules but the one I have and many other videos I have watched are averaging around 35 joules, I think these companies are realizing it is better to under state power and get better reviews.
