Not all pistols are rated for plus +p or +p+ ammunition and it's usually stated in the pistol owners manual. In the wrong pistol, constant use of higher pressure ammo will wear out your parts much faster or even 'break' your firearm. Also if I missed you mentioning it, different brands, weights, types of ammo don't all have the same point of impact, especially the farther away the target is, so newly initiated shooters may not realize that their accuracy problems sometimes is that they are buying and shooting various & random ammo types from range session to range session..

I mentioned that first part but missed that last one on accuracy. Good point! 🙏🏽

Sure but who's practicing with +p? I only use it as SD ammo.

Hallow points are like the 5.56 heavily velocity dependent. If you’re not running +P or a full size, 4 inch barrel and above don’t run anything heavier than 115 gr. If you’re running a barrel length less than 4 inches don’t use anything heavier than 124 gr +P. If you go with 135 gr or 147 gr it must be +P and a full size handgun. The heavier the bullet the hotter it needs to be loaded in order to reach ideal velocity for peak performance expansion. This is why barrel length is critical. If you don’t get the expansion it might as well be a FMJ. When it comes to manufacture in the FBI’s testing they determine that Hornady Critical Duty135 gr +P out performed the rest this is with their requirement that it be able to stay in tact after specific barrier penetration. If you’re running a compact then 124 gr +P is ideal. If you’re not looking for barrier penetration IE car glass go with Critical Defense. Spear Gold dot and Federal HST’s are also a good second choice. The other brands are known not to have reliable expansion. Second fire a couple boxes of your choice through you handgun to make sure it feeds properly. Not really a issue these days unless it’s .45 acp

Excellent presentation! Here are a few other things to consider: Flat-nose FMJ vs. Round-nose FMJ Full-Metal Jacket vs. Partial-Metal Jacket vs. Fragmenting Solid Core (solid copper, solid lead, solid hard-cast lead, solid polymer) Standard Pressure vs. Low Pressure (low recoil) vs. +P vs. +P + Casing material (brass, steel, aluminum) Match ammo vs. Batch ammo

A single sentence in this video got you the thumbs up, bro. You finally explained the difference between critical duty and critical defense. Put those 2 rounds side by side on table and you cant tell the difference. I always figured it was the depth or cut of the hollow point.... i was wrong. Lol good vid, keep it up.

Preface: I'm not an ammunition expert, but a couple things wrong with your video from my research: 1: you shouldn't be using "bullet" as a standard definition of a "cartridge." 2: I think you may be mistaken regarding the bullet weight and penetration. Higher bullet weight does not mean more penetration, it's actually the opposite. Of course, that depends on your barrel length. Generally, for a 9mm handgun, the less weight = more penetration. And 3: in order for hollow points to expand the way they're meant to, you need less bullet weight. The heavier bullets don't expand as well due to their lower velocity.

Hey brother what hollow points you running in your mc9??? Lmk please😭😭😭
@dariuskincaid5 ай бұрын
The mc9 pretty much eats it all. Lately been running either 124g JHPs or 124g HSTs. The mc9 can be kinda stiff out of the box so I always ran higher grain ammo and even running some +p ammo thru it to break it in and kinda never just left it at 124g. I’m porting it soon so we will see how she runs afterwards

Do you personally re zero your optics depending on what round you’re shooting? Or do you zero with you go to personal defense round and just leave it be when you’re training with range ammo
@dariuskincaid5 ай бұрын
I zero my pistols with the round I’m more likely to carry with it. Not sure if that’s the right way but it’s been good so far lol
