Forget commercial ring compressors. This easier and cheaper.

Beautiful! I am rebuilding a two piston air compressor and need to get the pistons back into the cylinders. I don't have a ring compressor but do have a collection of hose clamps and scraps of plastic. Thank you for sharing your technique. Also, I like your humble and gentle manor of narrating.

Great video. Really helpful as I’m repairing an air compressors pump with 55mm cylinders. This method will work well.

I'd recommend just using the hose clamp without the plastic if its wide enough to cover all the seals because when I tried it, it dragged the plastic down and got it stuck between the piston and cylinder wall. Using a hose clamp by itself worked best for me.

You could mess up the rings doing this though its safer with plastic

That is the issue with plastic... I used some 90mm poly pipe then lined it with some steel shim.... worked a treat!

Trying to slide a piston "UP" into a cylinder on a quad motor, the standard/commercial ring compressor won't work due to clearance issues....think this might do the trick...Thanks for the idea!

Excellent. The commercial ring compressors are expensive and mostly useless.👍
