Bought one last year for hubby. He passed away. It sat in a closed garage until yesterday. I followed the instructions on burn out. All good. Then followed instructions on the first cook. One hour and temp never got to 400. Gauge on top never past 200. Followed instructions on turning off. Nothing cooled down afterwards. No fan blowing. Had to use oven to cook the bacon wrapped shrimp. Not happy at all. Thanks for this video. It's probably the fan and this pit never cooked a damn thing. Now I have to learn how to fix it.... I'm a subscriber now.

That’s awesome Pit Boss never gave you a hard time and signed you up for the warranty cause you forgot to. It’s nice to hear something positive about there customer service as I’ve never had to deal with them and only hear bad stories from people who have. I’m waiting for the next video brother

So mine was opposite, auger wouldn’t spin so I replaced the motor. Auger still doesn’t spin after being replaced. But when I switch the fan plug with the auger plug the auger will spin but the fan will not. Does that mean I need a control panel replacement?

the ones I been fixing the fans stick from sitting out side just reach up and spin them a couple of turns now plug back in and it will work

I have the Lexington and it’s brand new and after I do the set up and set the temp I want it just continues to climb. Pitboss said I need a new control board but it’s back ordered and it could be months

I have only used mine twice. The last time was October. I went to turn it on today and it would not come on. This really makes me unhappy. Only used twice and already problems

I used my Pitboss smoker for 1 year, then moved and didn't use it for 9 months. Now, I cannot get the screen to turn on, or anything else,, EXCEPT, when I just plug it in, a code flashes for about 1 second - "7F1". What do I do with that? No screen, no auger, no fan, no heat.

Can't find original auger fan from Amazon. Does that generic one work?

The problem with mine is anytime I get to higher temps it takes forever to get to it and then once it does my hopper starts smoking and it’s clean as a whistle. Hate using a smoker now I’m done with it. I have the same out boss as in the video. I have grown to hate this thing.

My grill will not get to the temp I set. Like 350 it will only get to 320 ish and not get any hotter. This is the temps on the controls l,(Not looking at the hood thermometer). If I set it to 400 it will get to 350ish.....cleaned ash pot, fan works....any suggestions?

Weather could play a factor or contact Pitboss and tell them your control board has a malfunction. It should not stop at a temperature you do not set it at

My pit boss lexington stopped working after 5 weeks of owning it. Customer service said it was the ingiter. Had to wait 11 days to receive the replacement. It's not the ingniter. The fan doesn't work. So now I'm on day 4 or waiting for that. Pit Boss says it could take 14 days to receive. Stay away from Pit Boss.

Just bought my Pitt Boss Series 5 smoker last night and going through the burn in procedure and fan is not working. UUUUUUGGGGGG!!!! Update: Called customer service and a very pleasant lady walked me through the trouble shooting and we found that the controller was bad. She is sending out a new one, no charge.

I have had bad experience with their customer service. My control board went hay wire . They never would replace the parts . I got 1 response from them.reached out to them several times for close to a year with zero response. I will never buy another

After a year or so have a problem. No matter what temp setting I use the hear dies nothing but increase to 500. Even on smoke setting the temp continues rise to max. Any help please ?

@@jaybruce6974 Improved quite a bit once I cleaned the internal temp probe that reads the pit temp.

@@jaybruce6974 Glad it helped. I'm sure it was my problem at that time. I did not keep the inside clean and the problems increased to the point it became unusable. After keeping the inside cleaner the problem improved quite a bit. I think some variation on temperature is just part of it. I have one of the smallest size units . I think the larger the pitt the easier it is to control temp also.

Each error code is different. Contact their help line for assistance

Per the manual. "Err" Error Code means, "Temperature probe wire not making connection." Solution is, Remove hopper access panel (see Electric Wire Diagram for diagram), and check for any damage to the Temperature Probe wires. Ensure Temperature Probe molex connectors are firmly connected and connected correctly to the Control Board.
