Dust wasn't the problem with mine. I put a cup of cherry wood chips (not pellets) and one of them wedged itself really tight between the auger and the shaft wall. I learned my lesson.....ONLY pellets!

I had same problem. Cleared mine by watching this video. Auger was packed solid with dust and broken pellets . Took me an hour to remove auger . It was really frozen in place .

Mine is super frozen too, any tips on how you got the auger out? I have tried a few different ways. Very frustrating.
@HighOctane1014 жыл бұрын
Take apart and use a vise grip and work it back and forth, you will have to remove motor and lock collar on the end. The auger will have to be completely removed just in case there is nothing else in there besides pellets.

@@HighOctane101 OMG you don't need to take the BBQ apart to clean a auger jam. It's super simple to clear an auger jam and it doesn't require the use of power tools, screwdrivers, hammers, crowbars and vice grips. Simply toss a chiming load of lit charcoal into the bottom of the BBQ and close the lid. within 15-20 minutes, which is less time than it takes to disassemble the smoker the charcoal will have reduced the jammed pellets into teaspoon of ash. In more sever cases you might want to remove the fire pot and toss a couple of briquet's under the auger tube . No need to waste time buggering up the end of your auger shaft
@mjcleary9195 ай бұрын
Great advice, except for the bud light. 😂. I cleared my jam and was smoking in no time at all. One side note; I have had my PB for 5+ years and never had a jam until I tried using a big box off-brand pellet. It may be a coincidence, but I went back to using PB pellets. Running like new. 👍

I think mine locked up from not shutting it down properly. Also I think the auger motor being mounted loosely is engineered that way my pellet stove is the same way. I think it helps from shearing the pin on start up
@ILOVECHEECHEES26 күн бұрын
Mine is stuck also I hope it's not the gearbox a Sprock issue will find out tomorrow. Mine also wants to twist the auger but make a slight jolt with a slight noise. A slip so i hope it's not the sprockets in the gearbox. Fingers crossed it's a clogged issue.
@lastboomer61643 жыл бұрын
how much was the replacement cost. and what do you think caused the teeth on the gears to chip off?
@HighOctane1013 жыл бұрын
It was like $15 I think, I’m sure gears could have been a defect but making sure the grill cools down with fan is a plus never unplug it at high fire that can cause auger to stick the next time you use it
@mitchk2981 Жыл бұрын
It is really important to use a cover and to not leave pellets in the unit. I had this model and finally gave up on it after 7 years of one thing or another. I got the Pit Boss Pro and now when done with a smoke, I empty the hopper and then start the unit and let what ever is in the augur burn off. Then I vacuum it all and put the cover on. A little more effort, but beats having to pull it apart when those pellets become like cement.

There is also a bracket you can get that will stabilize the gear motor, it called Cabela’s Rework Motor Bracket CB24ESC1 , or CB36ETC1, it works but I had to add a couple of washers to align the bracket to the motor. Pit boss said that the motor flopping around is normal, I disagree.

I sift my pellets through a spaghetti strainer and shake them before storing them in a 5 gal bucket. Then when i add them from the bucket to the hopper I use a flour sifter cup and shake them again and dump them in. I find that by reducing the amount of dust in the pellets, I haven't had this problem..... yet. Additionally I drain the hopper in to another bucket after each use and store inside the house. My thinking on this is that the outdoor humidity won't swell the pellets. Maybe i'm just getting lucky so far but it seems to be working.
