David..we use WD as close to the start of your heat as possible. I like mine to dry..some guys apply it wet. Yes..WD will soften up the tires quite a bit. We use it on a rubber carpet track and it hooks up so well that you have to turn in slower than usual for the first few laps.

Most of the fast guys at my track use sxt 3.0. I've tried sticky kicks, liquid wrench, wd40...all if them. None of them come close to sxt 3.0, at least at my home track anyways. That stuff works ridiculously good.

Late to the party but I had a guy in the 80's at a slotcar track tell me that STP on foam tires softens them up.

I just tried this for the first time. I used liquid wrench by recommendation of the local tracks fast guys. How many times do I need to "sauce" the tires before I can feel a difference in the rubber? They are clay compound AKA Handlebars.

After the tire is dry how would it feel because my compound makes my tires feel smooth and peoples at the track make them feel sticky almost like never drying glue

What is tire sauce and won't WD40 make it less grippy? Also for what track would you apply it?

Excelent video man, just a simple question. I run in a very loose offroad track. Whats the best thing I could do to gain some traction? WD40? Traction compound? Simple green? I've read already so many things im just confused, in some places it says its useless to apply traction compound for a loose track, in others they say to just use simple green. I want to know what you think whats best for a hard packed but very loose condition. Thanks in advance man! Keep up those vids!

Softer compound tires help. I never did like simple green because if the track is slightly damp I always ended up with clay caked onto the treads. With WD40 it keeps the treads from clogging up.

So what kind of track surface do you run to apply this stuff. No such thing when I raced buggies in dirt n grass tracks many many years ago back in the day of spike tyres and mixed bag of weather.

Nooby question here, can you sauce your tires any time? Or just on tire break in?
@codyprice02952 жыл бұрын
From other videos I’ve seen, it doesn’t need an SDS it needs a “nutrition facts” label.

so dumb question here but how long do you put that or wd40 on prior to your heat? and does it really make the tire grip more?
@ShortCourseWorld10 жыл бұрын
i put wd-40 on as early as possible.....i like to let it dry and it takes a while.... i put sticky kicks on like two or three heats before my race

@JFlyer19734 жыл бұрын
Lokithecat late answer... it actually gets into the rubber... opens the pores and soaks in. Hurt it? No... change it? Yes. Makes the rubber sticky. I walk into our local track on race night and guys are doin one of 2 things... racing, or saucing tires. We run on clay.

Is it okay to drink tire sauce? I kid I kid. Seriously, is simple green an option? The only reason I ask is we use it to soften our break shoes on our BMX bicycles and of course it cleans them too.

traction compound is probably $0.50 worth of petroleum product marked up to $10.00 so you think it's magic. try furniture polish or charcoal lighter fluid. and always add peppermint oil to the foams (mainly because it smells yummy). but don't waste your money.

If there’s no MSDS on the packaging, hazard label, or a visible warning then it should probably be okay to pour on your skin. Then again, maybe the process for the solution is under some loophole that doesn’t pertain to the actual intended use of the product.
@MWA788 жыл бұрын
This is correct. If solution is not hazardous it does not fall under SDS rules. FYI It is no longer called MSDS, just SDS.

I'll tell you what my buddy's grandpa has skin cancer in his hands and his arms and around his wrist really bad from tire prep sauce from race cars on real race cars when he was dirt racing back in the day cuz they used to use all kinds of crazy chemicals back in the day on their real dirt cars like the is modified or is super late model and they would spend hours and hours every week prepping 10 to 15 tires before they went to the dirt track and he's now skin cancer from all that tire prep and all that tire softeners and all that other stuff they used to use back in the day that's why a lot of tracks do not allow tire softener in real size race cars because it causes cancer and eats your skin up if it can soften rubber it can soften your skin and hurt you. He said they never wore gloves and didn't think about that back in the 70s and 80s that the tire softeners and soaking chemicals they used on his real dirt latemodel asphalt latemodel and modified for both dirt and asphalt. He said about 1997 tracks started outlawing tire soaks and softeners cuse for one it's very expensive 60 dollars for a gallon and that lasts for 4 tires and when you got 8 tires to prep every week that gets expensive, other reasons is because it made it harder for newer drivers to compete cuse it was a secret on how each team did their tires and made it harder and more intimidating for newer guys, and the biggest reason is cuse it makes racing more expensive cuse instead of a set of tires lasting two races they only lasted one heat race then had to bolt on a new set for the feature race cuse they got the tires so soft you could leave finger imprint on them before they hit track, and other reason is cuse it causes cancer and destroy your hands and skin
