More pro racers need to do these kinds of videos. Love how polite, helpful and humble you are. Its rare to see in alot of people at the top of their sport unfortunatly. Think you and Ryan Harris should colab on creating a perfect audio/video rc vlog setup for you. Keep up the great work.

Please do a video on how to make slicks from regular non-slicks tires and also on how they are preferred over ready made slicks. Thanks for this great video!!!

Would've been funny if you walked into Home Depot and asked the guy, "Excuse me sir, can you tell me where you keep your Pro-level RC tire sanding machinery?"

Great video Spencer. I have always sanded my tires in one direction I have never tried sanding in the opposite direction. But makes sense to keep tread height even.

I figured you’d like that ;) As I said in the description, I wasn’t able to add that part on how I make Slicks. It just got too long. BUT, it will be in my very next video! :)

Do you do anything special for Turf/carpet tires?
@jcchaconjr5 жыл бұрын
No worries on the “interruption”. You picked the power tool brand of champions! How appropriate. 🙂 Since you were talking about tires, I had a question about tire selection. When you go to a new track, how do you decide what tires to start with? Do you field suggestions from any available local team drivers, or do you have a base tire/compound that you always start with based on the track tape?
@spencerrivkinracing5 жыл бұрын
Great question, I first like to ask the locals to see what they say because they ultimately know what’s best for their track. Or I would look at data from previous races there and see what it shows for the best option
@jcchaconjr5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! I had to ask, because I’m getting ready to take up the hobby after an almost 20 year hiatus, and even then, I could probably count on one hand the number of times I ran off road (on road was my main discipline). For my new RC life, I really want to give off road a try, even though I also plan to race on road again. As it was back then, off road still dominates in popularity when it comes to racing.

20 bucks says the drill didnt die yet its a loose connection. You cant kill a dewalt drill that easy.. And it worked and then stopped. Dude you can fix that shit EZ. SOLDER the wire that fell off inside the drill. They are super simple inside to work with. Awesome vid though!!

Tyres should be used from the bag not this much faff!
@spencerrivkinracing5 жыл бұрын
There are definitely some steps, but if you want to be competitive, this is simply what you have to do.

But if the rules said tyres from the bag then this should make it better
@COL1NW3BB5 жыл бұрын
Chris Green if the rules said straight from the bag how would it be better? You still have different cars, motors, esc, lipo, spring rates etc. End of the day the above items might be out of reach due to cost, beyond a racers control... something like sanding tyres is in my opinion like setting camber, toe or ride height. It takes time but costs next to nothing and the guy that wants the win the most will put in the effort...
