I don't think the jokes were problematic. The movie is silly and the characters are supposed to be goofy. The movie cracks jokes about itself and it regards its own absurdity head-on, but in a lighthearted way. I love it.

It’s so easy to get annoyed with Aubrey, but I have to always remind myself that she has a military dad who is very strict and is played as the typical ‘if you’re not the best, then what’s the point of doing it’ type. No participation awards with those kinds of dads. He’s the ‘you always have to be the best at what you do, otherwise you’re a failure’ kinda guy. My half siblings military dad is the same. Which explains why his daughter is such an anxiety riddled mess who freaks out and panics if even one little thing goes wrong.

Fun fact: Vader isn't technically father in German, the word is actually "Vater" so very close but not exactly the same. The spelling "Vader" is actually Dutch, but there it's pronounced very differently than the English do it with Darth Vader. Fun fact: the reason the Aussie guy at the radio station said Becca could take the night shift was explained in a deleted scene. He asked Becca to go party with him or something along those lines and at that club, he told Becca that Jesse (Skylar Astin's character, roommates with Ben Platt) had talked very highly of her music and really grilled him about letting her do it, so that's something I feel is worth noting.

This movie will always be a favourite watch of mine. I saw the trailer back in like 2012 here in Australia & was like a musical, the girl from twilight & Rebel Wilson? Hell yeah. Always have fun watching it & fun song choices. The Trebles are my faves love me some Skylar Astin & Ben Platt. Also in #2 Ben and Skylar were meant to be used a bit more but they changed some of the script after filming & had to refilm somethings bc they cut out storylines so they aren't in it as much.

The fact that so many people don't know who Skylar Astin is (Jesse), a literal Broadway star, really bothers me. He's also been in tv series and other movies. But he's pure talent and no one recognizes him. It would be one thing if they didn't recognize any Broadway stars but that's where they know Ben Platt from. Also, Anna Kendrick got her start on Broadway as a child star.

Skylar Astin was also one of the originals in Spring Awakening with Lea Michele and Jonathan Goff. He did an episode of Girls. These were the early appearances. He has the most effortless belt. Waiting for 2 and 3rd movie reaction... perfect reaction... actually anna wanted her character and Britt's to be end game(bechloe got best chemistry award also in mtv awards) so she refused to do certain other love interest things and even Filmed a kiss in 3rd one with Britt by tricking the crew but they cut that didn't even give it in the dvd also.. and also everyone sang their part all of the cast are singers...Britt is even famous for her role in hairspray,she also sang portion in most of her movies like X, American dreams etc Like Skylar, Britt also has a singing vedio for "crazy ex girlfriend" song- research me obsessively..she also do funny Christmas and valentine's day vedio songs in the "do or die" channel
