I've topped up already marked lines but have yet to do it from scratch on a blank field. Getting the initial rectangle all squared up at 90° was the only part I wasn't sure of because I know all the measurements for a senior pitch. Now I know how. I'm very familiar with Pythagoras' Theorem. On a right angled triangle, the square on the hypotenuse (the longest side) is equal to the sum of the square on the other two sides (the ones that meet at the 90° angle). I just did a quick calculation in my head: In a 3, 4, 5 triangle 3²+4²=5² (feet, yards or metres doesn't matter) 9+16=25 Proving 3, 4, 5 makes a right angle triangle!

Here in the USA people act like you must have a licensed surveyor to do anything like that they would pay hundreds of dollars to get you to do that here. You show that basic surveying requires just good common sense and a little bit of math. Cheers to you.

When you measure the 6 yard from the goal line do you measure out 6 yards to the inside or the outside of a line?

Lines are within the boundaries they define.

Always from the outside. Lines are part of the area which they mark
