Pitcher Hit in Head by First Baseman's Throw (a Breakdown)

Had a similar situation from third to first at one of the kids little league games. Pitcher stepped back as the ball was thrown to first and it hit him right in the head. Fortunately he was okay. Always scary. Prayers up for his quick recovery.

Me too. Whoever wrote what I read had me totally confused as to how this play unfolded. Catcher made a mistake no big leaguer should make.

Years back there was an orioles game where rafael palmeiro was 1B and miguel tejada was covering 2nd. Palmeiro fielded a ball and threw to 2nd to start a DP. The throw ricochet off the runners helmet and hit tejada directly in the forehead. He was down for a while but he was OK.

There is a reason in the fight game one is not allowed to strike an opponent in the back of the head (rabbit punch) as it is extremely dangerous, especially to the base of the head. Hope this guy is okay

What are thoughts of watching the ball out of the pitchers hand all the way to the bat while hitting? Solid advice?

@@JermaineCurtis55sometimes I feel like it’s harder to do that, especially if he’s throwing harder, sometimes I find it’s just easier to just react to it instead of watching out of his hand all the way

@@JermaineCurtis55well kinda I batted .306 this summer vs decent competition, not a lot of power but I had the least strike outs on the team the past 2 years, I was a very streaky hitter a lot of 0 fors, I put the ball in play a lot but I didn’t have great contact I feel like if I watch the ball more I could start having more solid contact.
