Neil Young was right. Rock and Roll can never die. What a refreshing sound! Hints of Patti Smth, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, grunge, Chrissy Hind, and Neil Young guitar tone creeps in. But she's her own style and very addictive. I love it.

Courtney did this the hard way... constant touring and promo and raw talent. She's level headed and doesn't preach. Maybe that's where the hating originated. of course her sound is nothing new, but who cares? its good songwriting and reminiscent of early 90's sloppy rock. Courtney Barnett is genuine and kicks ass
@Jiv_Ing578196 жыл бұрын
But you can't get new without coming from somewhere, it can't be absolutely new, everything now had a before and to me before is important and her music comes from somewhere and to me has a good foundation that makes it actually sound more new to me because it's a progression, more new than much music that doesn't come from anywhere so they can't go anywhere, they've sounded the same for years, so I disagree. Also if you can't come from incredible early 90's music and skip that influence then why? To me her music does and that's meaningful, to be connected to that history rather than trying to ignore that and have nothing to draw from.
