If you were a backyard cook and had to choose between this grill and your LSG Santa Maria… which would you pick ? Trying to think through the pro and cons of the two grills. Thank you for the hours and hours you put into the content you create.
@SmokyRibsBBQ5 ай бұрын
Even though the flat top grill can let up and down similar to a santa maria, it isn't the same because the lid makes the difference. They are not the same. I personally like having the lid to hold in the heat and it also allows you to cook low and slow and smoke, where a santa maria can't smoke meat. It only perfumes it somewhat. I like them both and they both have a place.

I own this pit, and I love it. I’m just curious have you done a brisket on it? If you’re willing to offer any info on your process (maintaining heat with propane, etc) of smoking a brisket on it that would be awesome. Thanks for the video.
@SmokyRibsBBQ Жыл бұрын
No I haven't done a brisket. I use mine more as a grill even though I have smoked low and slow beef chuck roast before. The gas is mainly to assist in lighting the charcoal or wood. I never use it in the actual cook. If I were to do a brisket on this pit, I would build a small wood fire to control the heat on the opposite side of the thermometer, and I would cook the brisket on the thermometer side. It would require about the same babysitting as an offset smoker. I suppose you could use the gas to actually aid in cooking the meat, but that is not why they added that to the pit.

i wanted to get an actual smoker grill, but heard it doesnt work to well in colder weather and are hard to control. i went on line to see if there was a “lazy man’s” (well, in my case, lazy woman’s smoker pit, lol) type of perfect smoker for such conditions but so far have not found one. sigh. so, for now, i just settle for grilling out on my gas grill with the little smoker box with holes in it, and that smokes the burgers, steaks, etc, somewhat.
