Nicely done. I've been soaking the heads of my ratchets in transmission fluid for years and these same ratchets have never failed. I start soaking them the day I buy them, then once a year afterwards. This works for me.

I put beefier springs on their dual pall 1/2 in model and it really cleaned up the selector action. I took the springs out of an old tv remote :p it works a whole lot better now

Great idea! I'd love to find a good source for small springs with different tensions so I could do some tests. These ratchets seem to be a little bit "hit or miss" on the action. The lube really helped though. I'd suggest to anyone buying one; try a few out at the store and choose the one that feels best to you.

Good cleaning of the ratchet video. And good job explaining the disassembly and reassembly. Now time for a cold bottle of beer !

Low count tooth ratchets respond better to thick lube ans finer tooth ratchets to thiners lube, as I noticed that thick lubricant on a high count teeth ratchets make the mechanism stick.

super lube can be purchased at HF I lube my ratchets with it regardless of brand. I have the 3/8 flex pit pro and like it! It did go floppy but I just tightened the torx on the head. You really can't beat the price for these and you can't find them any where besides maybe Napa which would cost more

I like to test the action of a ratchet before purchase.

All ratchets have switches that can be positioned in the middle, thereby causing the square drive to spin freely!

The solvent can penetrate human skin and into human body. It is always better to wear a glove.

There is absolutely no scratches on that ratchet. I wish any of my tools would stay shiny

LOL, it was new. It isn't mint like that any more. I do try to keep my tools nice, but they always end up showing some wear. I think it's important to strive for that happy medium between the people who don't care and abuse their tools and a tool polisher who is scared to use them!

Yeah he rebuilt a ratchet that had nothing wrong with it! He probably only works on wagons and swing sets with such clean hands and manicured nails LMAO

@The motorsports project - so, the the man takes the time and effort to show people how to properly maintain a ratchet, and the best you can do is come up with some snide comment? Personally, I’m extremely grateful to him showing this process in such great detail and in layman’s terms. Why don’t you go ahead and show us how it should be done. I’ll be sure to pick apart your video and interject my needless comments!
