The video has instructions to setup a virtual machine of the PIWIS 2 diagnostics software using Oracle's Virtualbox.
PIWIS 2 is native to Windows XP. Setting up a virtual machine ensures you will have a PIWIS without the need to own/maintain an XP computer.
This setup was initially described on the Planet 9 forum (link below). Since the initial description, a few issues have been discovered and rectified.
The major issue was the software imprint expiring and the menus not being available. The solution to this problem is starting the virtual machine using a batch file (Windows machines only). This resets the date back to 2019 rather than taking the date from the host machine, ensuring the software imprint doesn't expire. This solution was discovered and the solution implemented by a number or smart people on Planet 9 and other forums. A big thanks to the people who spent a bunch of time sorting this.

I believe i followed the instructions but it just goes to the Porsche logo with the loading bar but just constantly loads?

The occasional person has mentioned this. I'd try downloading again and reinstall. If no luck try another computer.

That's the main reason I got the PIWIS. Ordered the hardware yesterday, not the software up and running just now from this tutorial. I'll be making one soon :)

I can't seem to get PIWIS to open. The Porsche emblem appears and the load bar just keeps going on forever. Any ideas on how to make it open?

Never heard of that before. I'd be deleting the VM and starting again. If it happens again I suspect it has something to do with the host setup.

My virtual machine is sooo slow. I am using the defaults from the downloads. It takes forever to load the PIWIS machine, and then it takes forever to load the PIWIS software. Any suggestions?

No suggestions, that's just the way it is from what I can see. I'm not a geek, so I don't know where the bottle neck might be. Something for someone who knows a lot more about computers than me.

My PIWIS 2 works fine other than the upper right voltage reading is off. When I check the voltage via other screens it’s reading it correctly. Not sure where this error is coming from. When I bought the system I bought an external drive with software as a backup. So it’s not the software. It’s probably the VCI, and how it’s getting the data from the OBD2. I don’t want to mess around with the interface.

I've never been able to get a voltage at the top right. No idea why. I just use the MFD voltage in the car and constantly monitor this. You can also look at the actual values of most control units and it will give you the input voltage.

That’s what I do. It would be nice to get it to work but I guess that’s what it is. I would probably think it’s a scaler within the SAMTEC. If I had a schematic of it, I could probably figure it out. Thanks for your quick response.

It’s great! Thanks for sharing. One question, what does extension pack do? I do not have administrator account for the laptop I am using. I loaded the image without install the extension package to see what will happen. I run the software under simulation mode and it seems work fine.

I'm not a computer geek so I didn't really know what was required. I just assumed it was. It sound's like it's not needed if working without it. I don't know if the extension pack allows connection to the interface. Like I said, I'm no geek and I just tried a load of stuff until it worked.
