Friendships: they’re at the heart of almost every Pixar story, and they play an important role in the formula the acclaimed animation studio has perfected. From longtime friends to unlikely allies, the friendships seen in Pixar films are among some of the most iconic relationships in all of animation. But, while friendships play a vital role in Pixar’s story structure, not all of them are created equal. Some are pretty healthy, while others can be a lot more toxic. But which ones are which? Héctor and Ernesto don’t have a lot of screen time together and at that point, Ernesto barely recognized Héctor the first time he saw him. While, yes, he did poison him for his songs, we have no idea what their friendship was like before they went on that tour together because it’s not shown in the movie. I think that’s why he didn’t rank them.

Also Luigi & Guido from the Pixar's Cars franchise have a healthy relationship with each other just like Lightning McQueen, and Mater. They have had their occasional fights before, but get along extremely well with both sharing a love for Ferrari's, and selling tires together. You could never ask for an amazing Italian duo like them.😊🙂💛💙🚘🚩

I think Carl and Russell deserves a healthy spot, yes Carl was easily annoyed by Russell bur Carl is an old man who only sees Russell as just a little kid. What makes them healthy is that despite his annoyance, he clearly cared for Russell and kept him safe and actually tried to learn about Russell struggling amd being lonely without his father being present in his proud moments!

I would personally put Mike and Sulley at the top for “gold medal standard”. They argue and fight, and didn’t have the best start to their relationship, but time and time again they work through their disagreements because they care more about each other than being right. When Mike turns his back on Sulley in the first film, he immediately changes his mind and goes back for him when he sees how much Boo actually matters to Sulley. He may have been stubborn most of the movie, but when he realizes that this is something genuinely important to Sulley he goes to support his best friend with no hesitation, regardless of his own goals. They sacrifice for each other when necessary and have the best of times together otherwise. When Mike spends MONTHS reconstructing Boo’s door so Sulley can see her….I cry every time. That is TRUE friendship. This is why they have stayed the best of friends for DECADES and are more like brothers than anything. It’s perfectly normal and healthy for people to have disagreements and even conflict at times. It’s how we choose to overcome those differences and be there for each other that makes a relationship healthy or toxic. Not the absence of conflict.

Hey WickedBinge while you’re at Pixar right now, can you do a which Pixar hero will win squid game? You already did which Pixar Villiain would win Squid Game so the only ones left from Pixar to do the Squid Games would be the heroes from Pixar all the way from Toy Story to Lightyear. I don’t think that the toys would win because the are toys so they might get smashed in the Midnight fight. Flik might get stepped on in the midnight battle. Meilin Lee might die in the Red Light Green Light from fear, or maybe she would weigh too much for even the tempered glass to support her weight. Carl would probably be too old. I don’t know how Luca and Alberto would do, Ian and Barley would be interesting if they got to marbles. I think one of the Incredibles characters would win though.

Only one entry for the Toxic Relationships category?!?!? I think you’re forgetting about Woody and Stinky Pete’s Friendship, Sulley, Mike and Waternoose’s Friendship and Carl Frederickson and Charles F. Muntz’s Friendship. Allow me to explain. Woody first met Stinky Pete upon being stolen by Al McWhiggin. However, Woody doesn’t seem to recognize Stinky Pete as a close friend despite the latter telling him that he was based off a throwback western tv series, Woody’s Roundup. Stinky Pete also explains to Woody that Al’s desire is to sell the Woody’s Roundup merchandise to a museum in Japan, but that was only possible if Woody stayed and sacrificed his life with Andy. To prevent the future disappointments of Jessie and Bullseye, Stinky Pete endlessly sabotaged Woody’s escape attempts to get home to Andy. The cowboy and prospector’s friendship was eventually terminated when Woody decided to go home to Andy after Woody felt guilty about brushing off Buzz and the rest of Andy’s toys, who came to save him from being sold. It was at that point, an angry Stinky Pete committed his final acts of villainy to stop Buzz and the other toys from getting in contact with Woody. This includes locking an air vent to stop Buzz from reaching Woody, continuously shoving Woody back into Al’s luggage when Slinky tried to fish Woody out, punching Buzz off a ramp at the airport and even coming close to completely tearing Woody apart since he refused to live in Japan. If there’s anything nice we can say about the friendship between Woody and Stinky Pete, it was thoughtful of Woody to help Stinky Pete finally have a kid of his own, much to the prospector’s horror, but that’s about it. That said, even in the Toy Story universe, friends are not always who you say or who you think they are. It’s hard to argue that Mike and Sulley used to have a genuine friendship with Mr. Waternoose. They were his favorite employees given their hard work at scaring children. Waternoose even bought into their “bring your relative to work day” when they disguised Boo as a monster. But that friendship ended after the duo reported Randall to Waternoose and asked him for protection against Boo, upon nobody else being aware of the situation. Waternoose’s only response was banishing Mike and Sulley to The Himalayas, thus kidnapping Boo with Randall’s assistance. Despite Waternoose regretting banishing the duo, he had no qualms about kidnapping a thousand children should Monsters Incorporated go underground and he will silence anybody including them if they get in his way. When Mike records Waternoose’s confrontation with Sulley, this sends Waternoose to prison for life, never again able to scare any monsters or humans. But we won’t hold our breath on the repairing of this friendship. I know that Carl and Charles Muntz’s friendship didn’t have that much depth, but you can tell right away that Carl was elated to finally meet Muntz, whom he had idolized as a young boy. This obsession had gotten in the way of his soon-to-be friendship with Russell, Kevin and Dug. After Muntz commits arson by setting Carl’s house on fire, Carl promptly hands over Kevin, much to Russell’s dismay. Carl eventually realizes that Muntz was not the key to happiness, thus putting their friendship to an end and remaining enemies as Carl and Dug battle their way to rescue Russell and Kevin from Muntz’s rotten plan. Adventure is always out there, but not with somebody as ruthless as Muntz. I hope you will consider making more entries for a Toxic Relationships category in any future Healthy To Toxic Relationships videos. Sometimes 1, 2 or 3 entries isn’t enough, regarding how much prominence or depth a relationship has.

I'm glad Joy got the silver medal of toxicity. It wasn't really Sadness that did anything wrong but Joy was just eesh in most of that movie. Even after she made her read that book and Sadness was able to remember what she was forced to read, Joy STILL didn't take her seriously and listened to someone who read "Danger" as "shortcut" which also makes me question her sanity at this point too. (Emotions can clearly read as stated about even if Bing Bong cannot!) I'm honestly shocked she didn't go out for the other emotions either considering they are all negative emotions but she was able to recognize their uses at the beginning of the film so why did she just bypass Sadness's use? Like why did it take so long for her to actually understand there is a purpose to ALL of them functioning in HQ? You can't have joy without sadness and in this case it's very true.
