The story is about toys that are sentient and take care of their kids, there is no more world building to it, there is genuinely no more to explore. As for the "gadgets" part, we have already seen the future, its called Ralph breaks the internet and Sony's emoji movie. we have seen abandoned toys, forgotten toys, collectibles (Toy 2), vintage toys in stores, and donated toys. There is literally no more to explore...
