The older Google Pixel 7 has 50 megapixel main sensor with f 1.9 aperture face detection autofocus and OIS and a regular ultrawide 12 megapixel with 114° field of view. The rear camera can shoot 4K 30 and 60fps. The selfie has 10.8 megapixel ultra wide that can also shoot the same 4K 60 FPS at max
While, the upgrade on Google Pixel 8 is the aperture on the main sensor. Although it's the same in terms of resolution and autofocus it has a brighter f 1.7 aperture. The 12 megapixel ultra wide was advertised to have autofocus and the rear camera can shoot 4k 30 and 60 FPS as well as a cinematic 24 FPS. The resolution on the selfie went down to 10.5 megapixel but like the older Pixel 7, it can also shoot 4K60 FPS at Max.

Over all 8 is marginally better but I don't think you can go wrong with either. I feel like pixel 7 does nicer skin tones. I really hope google fixes how pale they make people look with the pixel 8 series.

Pixel 7 tries too hard to make a blue sky even when there is actually no blue sky. And especially in nature photography where there is lots of green (grass, foliage) and the camera tries to cancel this out by using too cold tones. I absolutely hate that. Also flaring from light sources is terrible... So I am glad that newer Pixels fixed these two things.

I think the colors on the Pixel 8 are a bit more like the Samsung Galaxy, but not as oversaturated. Some images look more vibrant on the Pixel 7. Anyway, I think the software on the Pixel 8 spits out the images nicer and sharper, but nothing that the Pixel 7 could do if Google wanted to 😉

Even with adaptive brightness is off. The brightness slider would still adjust itself on its own. Sometimes it gets too dim and too bright. It is annoying. Do you know why?
