I had the pixel 4a 5g for over 3 years. I finally upgraded to the 7a last year. I had almost gotten the 6a , but I'm glad I waited for the 7a. At this point I think it is a good idea to hold out for the pixel 9.

I've been using my 6a and funny enough some reviewers say that it's the most glitchiest phone there is and I'm over here like, "ya think!?" Like text vibration turns off by itself, battery life sucks ahh, apps UI glitches, slows down for no reason, and it's plain old annoying in the ahhole

Rocking my 6a from the very first release date and its still doing fine, exceptional camera quality, never lags or hang but battery is so so and completed 546 cycles. IMO no need to upgrade for at least one year 🙏🏽

The video make it sound like you can't do payments / app sign ins with biometrics on the 6a but you can. It has an under screen fingerprint scanner. I know they've added face unlock to the 8a but biometrics do exist on the 6a.

I'll be keeping my Pixel 6a for the foreseeable future. I have been getting good battery life on my 6a. I've been averaging 3.5 to 4 hours of screen on time a day and ending the day around 45-50% battery remaining and that is with a lot of music streaming while the screen is off. I've been playing Elder Scrolls: Blades a lot and haven't had any heating issues.

3.5 to 4 is pretty light usage imo and for you the 6a is perfect, when I had it I always ended the day with 10 to 15 percent battery (sometimes turning off before I can plug it in), I had like 6-7 hours of sot, I hav the 8 now and end the day with 20-25 percent of battery so not that much better but never turning off before I plug it in for the night before sleeping.

Some people keeps their phones till they begin to be slow or they are broken. I switch this year (2024) from pixel 3 to pixel 6a; bought the pixel 3 in 2020 (second hand). So 4 year of use in my hand and another 1-2 from the previous owner. So, i don't believe your statement is 100% correct. Even if you don't use it more than 2 years, i believe that you are not throwing it to the bin. Either you sell it, give as a gift to a family member or keep for your pixel collection

Now THIS was the video I was waiting for and wanting. I did wish you compared a little more (such as fingerprint recognition responsiveness on each) but good enough video. As tempting as it is, I'm gonna probably hold off for now. My 6a still rocks and doesn't struggle with anything that I currently do. I don't game on my phone, so I could care less. As long as apps don't bog down the phone. Maybe I'll just get the Pixel Watch 2 instead of a new phone.

I got my wife the pixel watch 2 for this past Christmas and she thinks it is awesome. She's a big Fitbit user and she says it's way more accurate than any of her regular Fitbit bands were and the sound quality and screen quality she really likes.

Having had the pixel 4a. 6a and now 8a. I can safely assume the reason for the rounder design is simply robustness. 6a is the only phone I've ever owned that had a failed screen, cracked screen and visual bugs due to warping. The 6a had a rough launch on the forums due to similar issues and QC. Google pixel A series is just so good that I just keep coming back regardless of the 6a QC issues.

love the 6a but my unit failed me within 6 months of use, motherboard issue at a critical moment of my life. Also the feature of call screening wasn't available in my country and beats the purpose of me buying the phone where a feature is region locked. Bought a beat up used a52s and it served so much better till today.

Worried, still, about the heating issue! I had the 4a and now I am using a 7a. Even a 20 minute video call heats the phone up! Plastic body traps the heat inside. Feels too soon to upgrade, but after a long term review, might reconsider. Thank you for the comparison though!

the 6a's glossy back is the worst part of that device, that thing collects finger prints and micro-scratches like pokemon cards. my 6a despite having a case had so many micro scratches purely from the bits of dust that would occasionally get in. thankfully have a pixel 8 now which is much better.

Upgraded from a 7 and am very happy with finally being able to use face unlock and fingerprint unlock and not just the pattern which is all that was reliable on the 7. On the downside, the bezels are big and the screen is a little smaller. Overall, very happy with my purchase.
