The thing I love about my Pixel 9 Pro XL is just how THOUGHTFUL the software is. There are so many little features baked into the software that make the phone lovely to use. It seems like it always knows what I'll want to do, and when, and does it without me even asking it to. The cameras have genuinely blown me away, the speakers are something I wasn't expecting to be anywhere near as good as they are, and battery life has been crazy good as well. I previously had a Galaxy S21 Ultra and I was deciding between the 24 Ultra and the Pixel, and I definitely think I made the right choice because (sorry Samsung fans) the Pixel software is just so much nicer to use than OneUI in my opinion

Phones have been overpowered for a while. What we do on the phone 7 years ago hasn't changed that much today. So buying a slightly underpowered phone doesn't really hurt. Actually it helps with battery power.

I’ve tried switching back to an iPhone for the past two years, not because my Pixel has issues, but because I missed iMessage and FaceTime. However, I quickly returned to my Pixel. The iPhone felt inferior. So, I bought an iPad Mini 7 for iMessage and FaceTime. But I don’t FaceTime as often as I thought. With Apple’s RCS Messaging on the iPhone, iMessage is no longer a reason to miss it. I hope Google wins the DOJ lawsuit and continues making this amazing phone.

Google made some big upgrades this year for the Pixel 9 series and most tech channels are giving it positive reviews. While the Pixel 9 Pro looks great, I generally am suspicious of Pixels long term. I'm using a Pixel 6a now and while there's a lot I love about it, there's still infamous Pixel bugs and minor glitches. I have some weird glitch where my lock screen and wallpaper black out randomly and usually a few times per day. My music player(Apple Music) is choppy especially when I'm running more than one task in the background. And one of my biggest pet peeve issues with Pixels are mediocre speakers that produce kinda meh results in use. Battery life has been great since Android 15 but it's largely inconsistent day to day. Pixels get better over time but it seems like all phones of theirs suffer from random bugs or glitches. My brother has a Pixel 9 that has major screen dimming issues even though he's turned off adaptive brightness and he's said there's other small annoyances too. This is where Samsung Galaxy phones or iPhones are more stable over a Pixel. All phones have their annoyances but Pixels seem to consistently have issues that Google could fix but they just don't. Call quality on Pixels are lagging far behind a Galaxy or iPhone too. Google really needs to either completely overhaul their unstable Tensor chipset or go back to Snapdragon because the Tensor experiment has been mostly a failure.

I like what pixel brings to the table it's a fantastic phone it work's does everything you expect a phone to do,and let's face it 90% of us will never use the phones full capability I have the 8 eight and it does everything I want social media, texting, FaceTime, whatever you want. So I will hold on to my pixel 8 for at least 3 or 4 years. I am looking forward to how tsmc does with the tensor chip in the future.

iPhone user here and the Z fold 6 made me love android again. The software, especially the level of customization you can do with goodluck is insane. The build feels premium and I don’t have an issue with the front display size. In fact I kind of like the smaller display in comparison to my pro iPhone model. And another thing the recent software updates seems to improve the phones power optimization and overall performance. I’m more than happy with my choice of the Z fold 6. This is not to take away from the fact that the iPhone is a reliable device and I’m using both.

Anyone having similar issue with Pixel 9 Pro? Just recently bought the phone, only because of its Camera - to use during my traveling. I really take a lot of pictures :) But that phone didn't pass an easy test. The phone shuts down when Camera in use. And there is nothing special - regular camera settings, just choosing a shot, tapping the button. Today it rebooted twice in 10 mins period. It was outside, I don't now if it's because of the temperature, but it's not even very low (2C). I could understand if that would be cold like -10C, but not when it's positive in celsius. I'll be returning that phone. too many complains and usability issues, and it' too heavy..... very disappointed

It restarts, you launch Camera again, take a couple of pics and boom - the phone shuts down.. I used Android phones for 10 years, at even lower temps for longer time and they never had that issue (HTC, Samsung S20)...

Hey man, I think your review is spot on with the overall picture of the device. I've enjoyed mine coming from the 8 Pro (I was getting tired of having a large phone) and the 9 Pro is a nice upgrade on most plans. I think compared to the 8 Pro, my two main "issues" are that the camera hasn't improved in any tangible way, and that the battery isn't as good as I hoped it would based on all the reviews I'd seen before getting one (including yours). For some reason I can't seem to get as good of a battery life as most people, and I don't really know why. It's on par with what my 8 Pro was giving me, and it's just fair - solid. Not bad, but definitely not amazing. Standby drain is completely fine, I feel like it drains pretty fast while in use though, despite not being a heavy user. Regardless, loved your review, great work! ❄

Great review! You targeted some very good points. I have a pixel 9 pro xl and an iPhone 16 pro Max. I truly like the feel in the hand of the pixel better than the IP16 pro Max despite the similar form factor. I think it has to do with the IP being slightly wider. As yes the IP produces better video however, for my light use it's not leap and bounds better the the pixel. In the photo department I prefer the Pixel. I have taken many photos with both phones at the same time and I prefer the Pixel photos. Also, I don't play games therefore, I never get to really tax the GPU on either phone. I really like using the pixel more than the IP. Just my experience.

I think the Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 5 were both better. They had better processors and modems so the battery life was better and they didn't get so damn hot. The Samsung built Tensor chips have really killed the Pixel phones.

As an Apple sheep I will say: In my opinion, Google Workspace offers significant advantages over Microsoft products, particularly for businesses. I find Google's suite of tools to be highly effective and efficient. I also love the Pixel devices from 7 and later. The only reason why I stick at Apple iPhone is because of notes, reminders, calendar, freeform and the seamless integration with a MacBook. Also, my company did run Google Enterprise for years. We only stopped using Workspace a short while ago because it was overkill for the activities of the company today. (my company has more focus on less products, no financial problems or any kind 😊)

I've BEEN A PIXEL user since NEXUS and i need to say you have yuour opinion but the workmanship has gone way down hill. Just received the 9 Pro and the sim tray is bent. and the reception is suspect. Customer service is a far cry from the way it used to be, exemplar. Now I'm not an Apple fanboy, in fact i resent they are always charging more for less, like eliminating the sim slot in the US. But i have to give it to Apple, they produce quality, not shoddy imitations.
