i only go through the gauntlet of phone reviews and cases once every 3-5 years (ideally closer to 5) but coming here has made the search less annoying as it normally is... good job hitting the important points for me

One of my favorites for all around is the Nillkin brand. It's right between thick and thin with the hidden magsafe inside. It has a hard slate feel to it with great texture on the back for grip. Doesn't collect oils that easily to make it slippery. It's a boring look but I always gravitate back to them for all my phones because it just feels good. I'm hoping they make one for the fold 9.

I'm shocked you think the official case is grippy. It's incredibly slippery to the point that it's unusable to me.

Give it a couple of days. It'll break in and get grippy and comfortable. I absolutely love mine. But it was slippery the first day or so.

I had mine for a week and it stayed slippery unfortunately. I wish it was usable but after switching to the spigen rugged armor, it's literally night and day.

@@EdCruzat. Yeah, I gave mine 2 weeks, still slippery as hell. Switched to Bellroy leather, and it's so much better.

I wash mine with soap and water first and they become a little more grippy after the residue is gone.

I just got the quad lock mag case for my P9PXL waiting for it to come in. Im hoping it works well with the popsocket and other setups I have planned for it. It should. Quadlock case was amazing on my P6P but helped in it getting hot a bit. Lets hope time has allowed them to figure out that issue.

Google's Official case is very very nice and grippy. I'm going with that one for my 9 Pro XL. Google did a great job this year. ❤

That's the issue about switching the FPS to ultrasonic now is that it doesn't play well with lots of glass screen protectors vs optical scanners from the past. In your case it seems like the glass is too thick. You could either try a thinner one or a hybrid one that is semi plastic and glass. Those will work a lot better.

I used the official Google case on my Pixel 8, and I got one for my Pixel 9 Pro. They seem to fit the best and don't "creak" when you pick them up. I've noticed third-party cases don't fit as well as the Google cases.

Have you also tried activating the screen protector mode in the display settings? It can help with reducing the poor reads with glass based protectors.

Bell Roy leather case let me down with its fit on my pixel 9 pro, the top area of yhe screen comes off way to easy especially for the price, im taking mine back to best buy today, i found a translucent case with magsafe on Amazon that is awesome at right around $13

When putting a screen protector on the phone it's best practice to redo the fingerprints, once you do it should be just fine.

too bad about the included screen protector. did you try the "screen protector mode" under touch in the display settings? definitely recommend the pitaka case, got it last week and have really been enjoying it.

How's the protection like for thinborn seeing the thin profile? Is it just scratch protection and grip, or can it withstand drops?

The official case is far from grippy. If anything, it slides off your hand when you hold it downwards if you don't use effort to grip it. As for me, no case is worth more than $30. If it does, it better print money.
