so where do we start? Learn Adobe Illustrator, and add Photo Shop etc..?

Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are the big 3 for designers. Photoshop is more for pixel-based graphics and image editing. Illustrator for vector illustrations and logo design. InDesign kinda ties everything together into a full project, using assets from both Ps and Ai. InDesign is the real workhorse for designers although most hate it at first haha, you learn to love it

If you plan to go to college, just go first and also learn on your own while you’re there. The classes themselves will cover basic concepts, but I spent so many hours learning extra techniques and skills as well. It also opens the doors to many opportunities you may not already be connected to. It’s not necessary, but for 90% of people it’s the right path!

Thanks for the tips ! I used to work in a media and creative agency. I headed up the media department and the guy that headed up the creative department had a chip on his shoulder and would never teach us simple tricks. There is a thing called Canva that wont take my job, just saying... Helpful stuff lads

Human brains are simple at the end of the day and if things look pleasing to the eye and to the brain then it makes everyone happier overall. Nice tips dude I want to be a graphic designer as well because I want to design flannels to make them look different (pushing the cliche). What inspired me was dixxon, retro rifle, and video games, and the colors that remind me of something. I'm drawing them on my tablet and they're my best work. I can't wait to start my business to sell clothing.

Great video Spencer, thanks. I do Web Development and I have a similar multi-computer/monitor setup. Perhaps, try grouping overlapping wires underneath the desk together simply using strips of electrical tape. For me, it made the work area look more appealing.

We have been using Wirecast mostly self taught. We are trying to go to the next level by learning to create graphics both ( forgive me for not knowing or using proper jargon) still and moving graphics. To often we are in need of graphics like a count down or themed backgrounds and it could become costly to always purchase them. Also, we cant be to careful downloading free stuff from the internet. So we truly appreciate your videos and content.

definitely DO NOT need a touch screen device. I’ve never used one consistently, 100% of my work is with a computer. If you’re interested in digital drawing & illustrating etc, then you could definitely try out some programs like procreate on an iPad. But all of my design happens on a computer

It should be able to handle most things design-wise. If you get into video/3D/motion, that's where some laptops start to fall off. You could always get the Adobe free trial and then try out some different tutorials to see if they run smoothly!

As a newbie, what is the benefit of learning a proper program like InDesign compared to just using templates on software platforms like Canva? My instinct is to spend the time to learn the real programs rather than just use the platforms but so many people rave about Canva because it means you can almost 'instantly' create content. When I tried to use it I just found it awkward and hard to use. Any thoughts?
