You know usually people can get a little impatient for when a game come out. But with seeing you design and create and show us how it's slowly coming together really makes that feeling dissipate. Like instead of wishing for the game I'm just looking forward to these videos and some lofi beats instead. So when this game does come out, I can truly see some of the journey it took to get to my hands and appreciate it. Sending good vibes only, loved the video and art as always.

That was absolutely delightful to watch! One note from a copy editor, the way you have the cursive in the title of the bar, it says Salaan 9, which is hilarious. Cursive “O”s connect at the top, and cursive “A”s connect at the bottom. And now I’m just gonna go watch every video on this channel bc you are delightful.

While watching, I felt like there's a huge backstory for this. When you built your restaurant there, it made me think about the passenger comfort and how our ability to provide it might increase for everyone. So as seen in your design, the train has a lot of free space and people can just walk around and even have an in-train saloon. When thinking about future, a lot of times we imagine, and are kind of pressured to imagine clean and minimalistic design. But what if, like with skyscrapers in europe, we get fed up with minimalism? So we mix culture and modern technology, like the distinct shape of the skyscraper in taiwan (taipei 101) or the colorful trucks that travel through India. Your design now represents that blend of futurism/minimalism and culture and that's really cool. Keep up the great work!
@PixelArchitect3 жыл бұрын
Glad you are interested in the game world and design! I think a lot of modern designers (and lots of architects) push minimalism too much. I personally prefer lively/colorful/ and more organic spaces. At the end of the day, most people enjoy these kinds of spaces more. I really agree with you that we need to fuse culture and tech to create something new for the future :) I'm currently using the game as a way to experiment with spaces, and we hope to end up with something cool by the end.

Extremely long comment incoming lol: Just something to think about, but because ur game is in the back drop of this man vs machine, rural vs urban, traditionalism vs industrialization/cyberizarion conflict, I think it would useful to think about what exactly the game is trying to say about these paradigms and what perspectives (from different characters) on the encroaching technology, cyborgs etc you want to show in the game. the restaurant could become a meeting place for different political organizations to discuss. Many the player could over hear these debates or have their own input. I would recommend reading some essays/books on the philosophical topic. This might be way outside of what you want to achieve with the game, but I would still look into it. One point that many make about technology is that it breaks down tradition barriers between categories, one major between machine and human. Machines have become so complex that they replicate humanness, and humanity has become so interwoven with technology that our whole modern existence depends on it. Obviously there are those who fear these changes and want to regress or connect back to nature, but there are also those who embrace this transformation as an avenue for positive social change. There are many different positions and nuances to the topic and if you ever need some story ideas/or ways to flesh out characters, having them have a specific opinion on the conflict (probably because of their own life, like a butcher might be upset by the industrialization because mechanized farming puts his small shop out of business) would add so much depth. I think the switch to a more ghibli style is great choice not only because it looks good but also because it can (if you want it to) also a subtle commentary on the rural vs urban divide. Most ghibli movies take place in these picturesque small towns or cities. Even cities tend to be not all that modern. The way in which you have drawn the game thus far has actually beautiful melded the more “cottagecore” elements of ghibli with a techno twist. Which to me communicates that the binary between rural and urban etc is false! It is totally possible to embrace technology (critically albeit) while preserving the beauty of nature and rural communities (again albeit they are altered, but nonetheless present, in a new even more interesting form).
@PixelArchitect3 жыл бұрын
Really appreciate the detailed comment! You are right, there are a couple underlying themes that I'm pushing for this game, including the ideas of tradition vs technology, small business vs corporation, consumption vs environment preservation. These ideas will definitely integrate into the gameplay (what kind of chef you play as) and the main story as well. Still a long way to go in terms of the story and fusing it with the aesthetics, but nice to hear your feedback and ideas. Will definitely keep it in mind :)

And then an edge collider for all the background walls?
