Just a suggestion for the train station! To make it look more realistic, you definitely should add some texture bumps (for blind people using canes) and a painted safety line near the edge of the platform. A wheelchair ramp next to the stairs, too. Most train stations have those accessibility features, and that kind of thing is also important to keep in mind when designing other maps, too. “Real” (in the game, lol) people are meant to navigate these public spaces, as opposed to being some regular landscape art, and real people come in all kinds. It’s those tiny details that add some extra charm and realism to an environment, and they also tend to be super visually interesting and cool to draw.

@@PixelArchitect I love the vibe of make-believe you're putting out there. Very often when our generation plays god we're really angsty about it. To me a true creator is automatically happy in so far as they can create. That's what seems to radiate from your content.❤

All these little details make me happy here. Artists have to look at things in a different way than normal people. If you ask an average person to draw a train they will be able to think of the main attributes. They are going to draw a wide noodle with some windows, the power cables and maybe some circles for the wheels. But there is so much more to a train than that. You really have to look at all these little things the eye takes for granted to make art stand out.

Just a suggestion, I know that for a futuristic game like this techno/electronica is probably the go to for the soundtrack, but I feel like something like shoegaze would work very well with the laid back atmosphere .

Thanks for the suggestion! I will keep it in mind when deciding on the music. You are right, it should be a combination of futuristic, but still laid back and cozy.

Big fan of the project, big fan of you. Just curious.... What do feel when you're drawing these landscapes/structures and characters? I'm guessing you listen to similar music when you're working on it. Trying to figure out where you heart and mind is as you're putting this world together. Keep going! ! !
@PixelArchitect3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, music helps add a lot of inspiration, but mostly during the initial design/sketching process. Clubbed to Death is one of my favorite songs, and works super well when I'm trying to create a cyberpunk feel. But pixel art involves a lot of grind when past the design phase, so I just listen to long lectures or podcasts and stuff when drawing

why did you remove the inside of the train? 14:39 btw amazing work 👏
@PixelArchitect3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I realized that since I'm drawing interiors bigger than exteriors, the inside of the train would look strange if I drew it out. Instead, the interior will be in a separate scene and will be drawn bigger and with more detail. It's pretty typical in pixel art games where buildings are smaller than their interiors
