in total there was 6 units of trolls. with how broken they seemed that was gonna be a loss, but hindsight 20/20

I think it was just because they were fighting on a downhill slope, and the dwarves/elves had pretty much run out of ammo to shoot them down at that point. Any unit in that position can do fairly well, especially a unit like the ologs. I fought a similar battle except the positions were switched and I had units of hall guardians facing me from uphill. Tried sending my own pikes which were longer, but any melee unit I sent got absolutely destroyed. The Hall Guardians came out of each encounter with 0 deaths. It wasn't until I started keeping my melee units back and focusing them down with archers that they started to drop. I've seen the trolls get taken down fairly easily before if they were attacked by the right units or in the right position. I do agree the amount of olog units was a little overkill though.

For reeeeaal those Trolls are WAAAAY too OP to the point that it’s breaking the game. Are they supposed to be invincible to anything but arrows? That’s how it seemed, and I don’t think that makes sense. Like after a while of fighting massed infantry and even pikes, they should slowly die off.

43:37 The five armies were the elves of the Woodland Realm, the men of Lake-town/Dale, the dwarves led by Thorin and Dain, and then two orc armies from Gundabad and Dol Guldur. So you were close, it's just that there were two separate armies of orcs and there definitely weren't enough eagles to make up an army of their own (though I bet the Free Folk of Middle Earth wish otherwise, lol)

when i worked on FATW for RTW I made a troll that was able to smash down gates but giving them the axeman animation, but in the text files setting them as elephant mounts and putting an invisible orc rider on top.

The five armies were the men of Lake Town, the elves of the Woodland Realm, the Dwarves of Iron Hills, the orcs of Misty Mountains and the orcs of the Grey Mountains. So there were two different armies of orcs. Beorn and the great eagles were not counted as armies. Nor were Thorin and the other 12 dwarves.

Thunk it would be cool if it was possible to have like 20 players where each player controls either a single unit or a very small group of units. Make each section of battle truly its own personal struggle. Probably not possible. I know fuckall about computers or video games, just love watching these and think it would be pretty sweet lol. Yeah, it kind of blew a bit of the fun, suspense, strategy, and balance of the battle. Wayyyy too many and wayyy too OP. They should not 100% invincible to everything but arrows - after a while of fighting massed infantry they should slowly die at the least. That unit is broken and/or there needs to be a cap on them.

Those Olog Hai Trolls are WAAAAY too OP. Almost ruined the battle as cool as it was, like, not a single one died for 30 minutes of sustained fighting even against pikes. They seem basically invincible to anything except missile units which I think is a little over the top. Those things could use some serious nerfing because it created a wild balance issue in an already unbalanced scenario battle.
