Oh PIXIES are known and respected. One of the most influential bands of the 80s!! Described as the Velvet Underground of their time, in that not huge sales but influenced many to go on and form bands after hearing them. Fantastic band and this is one of my favourites by them!

Hate to tell you but the Pixies are not only extremely famous worldwide but also one of the most influential bands of all time. Virtually mainstream. That said, kudos for playing them and listening with an open mind. Doolittle is one of the greatest albums ever made. All killa no filla.

I remember first hearing monkey gone to heaven in 89. As a 17 year old it blew my mind. You have to listen to all off doolittle. It's a masterpiece.

They were always big here in the UK. They could and did sell out our biggest most prestigious venues, and produced some classic gigs

No-one knows about? Ummmmm, arguably the most influential band of the late 80s / early 90s. People who "knew about them" include Kurt Corbain, David Bowie, Tomm Yorke, etc., etc. As long as we're talking about bands that no-one knows about, have you ever come across a little NY combo called The Velvet Underground? Same kinda phenomenon; different era.
