The Clone Stamp Tool is the dumbest of all it's counterparts, like the spot healing and the regular healing brush tool, the patch tool, the content-aware fill, etc. It has no intelligent of its own. It's simply a "Copy" and "Paste" in the form of a brush. But here's the thing, since it is dumb, manual, doesn't take any decisions on its own, you can make it do whatever you want, in the most sophisticated manner possible.
In this tutorial, we will go through everything the clone stamp has to offer in Photoshop. Full of examples on removing all sorts of distractions from photos to removing specific things like tattoos and facial hair. Right from the basic stuff to combining the tool with blend modes, a big discussion on the Clone Source panel which allows you to modify the sample in every way possible, and also allows you to save samples! Making a copy of the background is sound practice, gives you a permanent source if we make mistakes. I always work on copies and preserve the original in it's folder.
