One of my favorite things to do when terraforming caves, especially those where dripstone is found, is to place water-logged stairs, slabs and walls in the floor. Most caves are formed by the action of water, and many live caves and mines continue to seep and drip, which leaves puddles everywhere. The water-logged blocks can go a long way to reinforcing the illusion of dampness without interfering with the movement of players through the environment. An abundance of overhead dripstone can also add to the atmosphere with their constant collective dripping. Just standing in the middle of dimly lit grotto, listening to the patter of dripping water, can be satisfyingly immersive.
@eloquentornot2 жыл бұрын
Prismarine being found in a copper mine also really fits in with that thing of how drowned spawn a lot in dripstone caves and can drop copper, really linking the area to water, almost like this is the kind of fantasy world where there are magical gems connected to different elements and the place to find the water powered ones is near dripstone as well as in the ocean! Maybe could even add in some lore about the reason why copper is the only metal to change colour over time is because it's connected to water somehow and almost wants to look like prismarine even though it's naturally orange?

I like the idea of, somewhere deep in the mines, having larger prismarine "geodes" with a sea lantern or conduit as a central light source. You could maybe transition inward from cobble/stone > copper ore > raw copper > prismarine, especially using glow lichen to smooth some of the transitions.

hi pix. i was wondering if you’d do more episodes with building/terraforming in it because i love your style and its nice to break up the constant learning of mechanics with something artistic like building
@Pixlriffs2 жыл бұрын
I'd like to do more stuff like this in future, but so much of my build style is improvised. I find it difficult to explain what I'm doing, because most of it is done by feel. It's much easier to explain farms, mechanics, and mob AI because they usually have reliable, predictable results. But they're also what gets us resources, so it makes sense if we build with those resources a little in upcoming episodes :)
@ima_cherry75862 жыл бұрын
@@Pixlriffs yes that would be great in future episodes ! but also maybe just assess what artistic elements you’re using in your build if you can’t really explain (like using the element line, composition, etc) because that feeling is your artistic skills without thinking consciously,, i hope that makes sense !!

another neat trick is have stone stairs below the saw that are water logged to make it appear like a wet saw, and to have some logs that are stripped in a stack as well. Also, having a scaffolding next to the saw with a lantern on top would be a practical detail because you'd want to see where you're putting your hands when it comes to saws. (saw you did that later in the vid, really nice touch :D) Dead coral, that one greyish block (made by combining granite and diorite that I don't remember the name of) and very sparse usage of gravel can work too. I love your usage of stone stairs and buttons for breaking up the flat areas btw. As for the ending section, lecterns with miners journals could reward exploration with hidden lore, maybe a pov of the miners thoughts on this mythical blue ore they've uncovered? Maybe it causing some sort of sickness turning the minors into drowned or undead? who knows~ 10/10, really really good video :] thx pixl

I think it's a little bit weird to leave bits of copper exposed anywhere except at the end of a branch. They clearly saw the ore there, while mining ore, why would they have left it there. Maybe cover it up except for just a corner showing through the side of a stairs? Or surround it with cobblestone or gravel, or something that looks like it would be more unstable, so they didn't mine it because they thought that direction would be unsafe to mine. That said, I like the way it's starting out!
