PIXMA MX490: Removing a jammed paper: from inside the printer

If you have one paper jammed and it is too far inside and you cant just pull it just turn the printer off (both from button and socket) then turn it back on.... this should remove any paper that is inside because the roller spins when you start the printer.

I've had problems with paper jams in this printer almost from day 1. It will print a few sheets and then jam. Every time I try to remove the jammed paper as shown in the video there is a piece torn from the middle of the sheet and now it's stopped working completely, I suspect there must be pieces of paper inside but I can't see them.

I have seen you can turn off power and then flip the printer upside down the paper jam can be seen too.

i had about 30 sheets stuck. The best way in my experience is to put the printer on the floor. Then sit down and put a foot on each side of the printer and grab the paper and pull. Push with your feet and pull with hands. Pull easy and if that doesn't work pull a bit harder. It does feel like it will break but it shouldnt

If you haven't already done so, you'll want to make sure the paper you're using is within the printer's specifications; otherwise, you may encounter paper feed problems such as the printer trying to pull in more than one sheet at a time. Please make sure you're using plain paper between 17 and 28 lb bond (64 to 105 gsm) or genuine Canon photo paper.
