Fellow New Beginning fan here. Flaws and all, I enjoy it immensely. It has alot of my favorite characters and moments of the whole franchise and for a Jason copycat Roy was no slouch.

I remember enjoying Jason X, but perhaps it's because when that movie came out, there had been no Jason movies in a really long time and I was rearing to go. A thirsty man in the desert might not be too picky about what brand of bottled water he is given.

Great ranking. I didn't really start watching horror content on KZbin until word of Halloween 2018 came down. Since then I've watched hundreds of horror videos and checked out tons of channels. It amazes me how many of the bigger "horror" channels have next to no idea about films, and franchises their content is built around. Many of these channels just tried to catch the wave of Halloween 2018 and pretty much winged it from there. Anyway, you're channel is a breath of fresh air man keep it going.

Great list sir. Mine is always changing, but at the moment it would be as follows: 12.) Jason Goes To Hell ( I do enjoy it for it's characters, but the concept is insultingly stupid.) 11.) Freddy Vs Jason ( Robert Englund is on point, but the movie is not. Ronny Yu is a moron.) 10.) Friday the 13th (2009) ( Most of the characters are just horrible people, and the story is a lazy rehash.) 9.) It's sad the original unedited footage is all lost. There are some wicked bad quality clips out there of some extended deaths though. Damn mpaa butchered that movie, it would have been the goriest movie.

There's a lot of sad "what could have been" stories regarding Friday the 13th and censorship but Part 7 is the saddest. It wasn't just the MPAA either, Barbara Sachs kept forcing Buechler to cut things she didn't like (such as making him get rid of zombie make-up from Tina's dad making the ending... confusing). She hated and didn't understand horror movies so had no business being on the production staff. Her only other production credit is Care Bears the Movie.

Pts 2 and 3 are at the top of my list, so I think we have similar taste. In my opinion, Pt 4 was hampered by the annoying kid Tommy Jarvis/ Corey Feldman, who got on my nerves. The remake would be middling in my rankings, as I didn't either love it or hate it. A few tweaks might have made it really good, and I am a fan of Amanda Righetti.

You know when Reggie finds the dead bodies in Tommy's room in part 5? I always thought that Roy aka Fake Jason put them there to frame Tommy as if he was the killer. What are your thoughts on this? (For me I thought it was actually interesting because it is like okay this killer is actually pretty smart and is going to pretend to be Jason and frame someone else for the killings because the police/other locals won't believe that Jason actually killed those people since they already know he was dead in the first place, so why not just pretend to be Jason and frame someone else for it? It is the perfect way to get away with murder)

@@ДунканМаклауд-е3х DJ makes the same argument I've made. It's very possible Roy was framing Tommy, but it could of just been a coincidence. Roy had collected news paper accounts of the massacre. The sheriff right after Tommy gets to the halfway house says "I hear you got the Jarvis thing..." and asked "what is he like?' So the Sheriff knew. We also know through multiple statements that the "loonie bin" has been a topic of discussion and it wouldn't be a surprise if someone mentioned "oh ya Tommy Jarvis who killed Jason, he's at the house too." several ways Roy could of probably learned about Tommy.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I really struggled to decide whether I thought the best was Pt 2 or pt 3. I think Jason was scariest in pt 3 and that version of him is the best one. But the storytelling, character development and atmospherics were better in Pt 2, so I think pt 2 was my favorite by a hair. I recently watched many of these again after many years and liked Pt 7 better than I remember. When it came out, there had been so many made in short succession, that perhaps I didn't appreciate it, but I like it more now. As to the Final Chapter, it was good overall, but I did not have the affection for Tommy Jarvis/ Corey Feldman that you seem to have. I thought he was an annoying kid that got in the way of this otherwise terrific slasher movie. His presence seemed to have improved the movie in your ranking, but would lower it in my own ranking.

Freddy vs Jason was a whole movie portraying these 2 like it’s fucking Bugs Bunny! There is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING scary or tense! This movie is so bad it makes the Halloween 5 cop scene with their dopey music look like it’s cinematic genius! Listening to pinball sounds during the fight shows these people don’t care about their fans and think that they are all morons! This is the type of movie people think of when they mock horror movies. Good list, one of my favorites. I disagree on Freddy Vs. Jason but I also was not as put off as the comic book-ish route they took as you were. I think it would have been very difficult do make a movie with such a silly premise as a played-straight horror film and the over-the-top approach was fine with me. I also never found Kirzinger as offensive as a lot of people seem to. While I think we could have gotten something better I also think it's more likely we could have gotten something much, much worse. I also really like the Derek Mears reboot Jason. It was doing something new with an old character without completely messing up that old character like Jason Goes to Hell did. To me it just felt like a natural expansion of the survivalist Jason of Part 2. The movie certainly has its problems but Jason wasn't one of them in my opinion. Sometimes I wonder how differently the franchise would have turned out if they hadn't done Roy and just made Tommy the killer in Part V. I think people are unfair to it because of the copycat angle but like the reboot it's a bit too sleazy for its own good. And I like Ted White and C.J. Graham more than Hodder or Brooker.

The original Friday the 13th will always be on my top 3 from the franchise. I love that they didn’t start the whole franchise with Jason and instead had you guessing who the killer was. I love the music, the intro theme is iconic and I’m obsessed with the end theme. Speaking of endings the boat scene is so iconic and for new watchers it’s probably very unexpected and scary. The characters are memorable, sure Alice isn’t the strongest final girl and I prefer Ginny over her but she’s still very good. I’m never bored with this movie the scenes that aren’t suspenseful are entertaining, I like the pov shots of the killer stalking and the movie poster is also iconic. One thing this and Part 2 have but is mainly seen here is the eerie mood it has. I really enjoy that. The whole movie starts of sunny with teenagers just having fun and as the movie goes on the vibe slowly shifts into a darker, eerie direction. This is mainly represented with the rain and storm, the contrast of shadows and darkness at night, the quietness, the atmosphere, the music and the setting. Also Betsy Palmer (Rip) did an amazing job as Pamela and set the tone for what was to come. She’s even scarier than Jason at times. The Alice & Mrs. Vorhees fight is amazing & iconic as well. Plus it’s one of the first slasher films so credit where it’s due. All in all one of my favorite slashers & horror movies 🔪

The transition scene with the coming storm remains one of the strongest moments in the film. All the animals on the move, as if sensing the danger...the wind in the trees....the ripples on the surface of the previously tranquil waters of the lake.........the shots of the horizon, showcasing the coming of the night...Just a brilliant sequence. It puts you right in the middle of the action, as if you are right there at Camp Crystal Lake...

FvJ was awesome, that was the only way to do that movie. It had to be over the top. The reboot is fantastic too, I don’t get fans issue with that one. The only one I outright dislike is Jason X.

People just wanted a more traditional horror movie approach to to FvJ and I'm not sure how that would have worked. I understand why those people are disappointed with what we got but I think it could have been much worse. Yeah it feels more like a Nightmare movie but it sort of had to because if you're going to have Freddy in a movie you need to incorporate all of Nightmare's rules which are way more complicated than F13's outside of Jason Goes to Hell which is best ignored anyway. Freddy also only got a single kill to Jason's 18 so I don't really feel like Jason got second billing. I get some of the complaints about the reboot but I don't get why people take issue with Derek Mears' Jason. He runs? So does non-zombie Jason in 2-4. He's smart? Jason might not be educated and he's psychotic but he was never an idiot. He felt like a natural evolution of the survivalist Jason introduced in Part 2.

Jason voorhees I don’t get why a change in appearance is even a point of contention with part 8. He has a new mask and outfit in every movie (3&4 are the only two where he looks the similar). Plus he lost his mask in VII so of course they had to give him a new one.

A lot of people do not like 5. I find it very important in the series (ignoring some of the glaring continuity issues, especially Tommy's age )as it is part of the "Tommy Jarvis Saga" and what happens in that film leads to the actions of Tommy in the amazing Jason Lives.

Heres my list from worst to best. A lot of people may disagree but this is just my opinion Jason X (honestly taking him in space was a bad idea in the first place) Jason Goes To Hell (I like the concept more than jason x but the acting is garbage and the execution is mediocre) Jason Takes Manhattan (the kills are good but wtf is the plot) Freddy vs Jason (weird execution but the f v j fights are iconic and unforgettable ) Part 5 (again I like the concept but it just wasn't for me) The reboot (the pacing wasn't terrible and I like how they basically put all 3 parts into one movie, but some of the characters are flat) Part 6 (the pacing is boring sometimes but jason is brutal as hell and grown up tommy is awesome) Part 1 (it's a classic but also has boring pace until the end, the ending scared me as a kid but not as much as part 2) Part 3 (one of the scarier ones in the franchise, great cast and pacing, but some of the execution and writing is kind of silly) Part 7 (amazing concept and probably the best risk they've took in the franchise, jason is a beast and Tina is dope as fuck) Part 2 (definitely one of the scariest slasher movies ever made, jason is so sneeky, the cast is amazing, and the ending scared the shit out of me as a kid) Part 4 (the definition of an amazing slasher film. Entertaining cast with individual stories, funny puns (ex. the corkscrew scene) the characters are actually smart for the most part, and jason is thirsty for blood. Definitely a movie I'd recommend to a friend if they've never seen a friday the 13th movie!)

I've been on a mission to watch every ranking video of the Friday The 13th franchise that I can find here on youtube because I've been obsessed with Parts 1-7 since I was a kid and I love to see how others rank the films. And well yours is definitely one of the best ranking videos that I've come across. I also hate Freddy Vs Jason and love Part 5 which I think is a fun campy movie with some great black humor that gets way too much hate. There were some ranking videos I watched that had the remake or Jason X at #1....I found that profoundly disturbing.

12. Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan - Put Jason in New York until the last 20-30 minutes when most of those scenes were filmed in Vancouver. 1/10 11. Part 5: A New Beginning - Most of the characters are just there to die and trying something new is in this movie, but I didn't like that path it went. 1/10 10. Part 3D - Aside from Jason getting his hockey mask and the great second half of the movie, the first half was just boring and it doesn't get the ball rolling until Jason got his hockey mask. 2/10 9. Jason Goes to Hell - I actually like that they tried something new and original, but it doesn't make this movie make any sense. Having Jason become a body snatching parasite was pretty stupid and the way Jason resurrects was stupid as well because if he could resurrect fully from his dead half sister's corpse, why didn't Jason do that in the first place when he encountered the news anchor when he overheard him talking about Diana's corpse being in the basement?! We would've at least seen more of Jason. 3/10 8. 2009 Remake - I have mixed feelings for this one. Smart Jason is alright, but the characters aren't that interesting. Jason kidnapping Whitney, who looks nothing like Pamela Voorhees, was beyond stupid. "Say hi to Mommy....in hell". Yeah even though we never got a sequel to the remake, I'm hoping Jason killed Whitney. 5/10 7. Part 2 - It's the first time that they introduced Jason as the killer, so it's good for what it was.Also, the burlap sack looks much more creepy than his iconic hockey mask. 6/10 6. Jason X - I get that it's stupid to have Jason in space, but it's very entertaining as hell to watch. 6/10 5. Part 6: Jason Lives - If I can forget the fact that Tommy was the reason Jason is alive, this is a solid movie for me. 7/10 4. Part 1 - It's a classic, people. The kills that are done by the killer's POV and that was a great choice. I love the suspense and mystery behind this movie. 7/10 3. Freddy vs Jason - Great kills and great fight scenes, but had the worst characters I've ever seen. They're annoying as hell. 7.5/10 2. Part 7: The New Blood - The greatest Jason I've ever seen with great kills. Kane Hodder was great in his debut as Jason, but I'll admit that "Not Carrie" (Yes I know her name is Tina, but who cares? She is not Carrie. The only reason Jason is alive is because of her) has telekinetic powers for some reason. Where did that come from? 8/10 1. Part 4: The Final Chapter - Fun characters, one of the best Jasons, and of course, Corey Feldman as Tommy Jarvis was a great actor and character. 9/10

Well it should be easy to find in the youtube search engine, but you shouldn't shit on him. He isnt very arrogant about it, in fact, he is very apologetic about it, and he gives you plenty of advance warning that you probably wont agree. And to give him credit he says he still really likes ALL the movies. I honestly can't stand the New Line Films and I pretend they don't exist. But yeah, his list is insane. First time I saw only one of the classic first 4 in the top 4.
