Small correction: the Pizza Hut FMA promo image wasn't made until 09 (for Brotherhood). Still, the rest of the campaign (more specifically, the clock/pillow/armor giveaway) was for Conqueror of Shamballa, like I said. As far as I can tell, the 09 campaign didn't get NEARLY as much press attention as the 05 one.

Some friends and I recently rewatched Geass, and 2 out of 3 of us ordered Pizza Hut during our viewings LOL. The iconic product placement was still effective, even in 2020 on a Netflix version of the show where most instances of Pizza Hut were erased

I still remember the first time watching Code Geass and seeing the logo. It was so random, so unexpected I had to start looking shit up because it was so out of place. Then came the 'holy shit, its intentional that's kinda awesome' moment. What's sad is that the Geass Pizza Hut boxes were tossed in the recycling in Japan... here in Kanehdah I'd happy put the damn things on display. The chibi box was 2010 internet humor incarnate. There is just something about Code Geass, its definitely an anime that has aged well. Hell, I can still remember the excitement of waiting each week for Adult Swim to release the next episode. Oh right... FMA-B movie... wasn't there a werewolf or something? Seen it once and then pretended it didn't exist.

I watched Code Geass on DVD first where all the Pizza Hut logos were edited out because Pizza Hut USA didn't clear the product placement. So all the memes and references to Pizza Hut I saw online were really confusing as in the DVD edit C2 is just obsessed with unbranded blank white boxes of pizza. Which come to think is bizarre in retrospect because every generic pizza box I have ever seen has still had.. like... pictures of pizza and what not on it usually.

That promo image definitely looks more tied to the 2009 anime than it does the Conqueror of Shamballa film, like all the other subsequent giveaway material you showed looks like. The soft outlines, curvier faces, etc. don't match the character art from either the 2003 anime or its sequel film. Was that really an image they used in 2005? I'm kind of surprised if so.

In order to pay the costs of property damage, the heroes all have sponsors from companies. The thing was that the sponsors involved in the show were real life companies, with one of the heroes named Fire Emblem being sponsored entirely by Dominoes Pizza.

Once upon a time there was a movie called "Demolition Man" (1994), that featured the quote "Now all restaurants are Taco Bell." Because of 'stuff' the Taco Bell references in some versions of the movie were changed to "Pizza Hut;" "Now all restaurants are Pizza Hut." Not that it matters today as Taco Bell and Pizza Hut are owned by the same parent company. And apparently in the anime multi-verse too.
