Getting any rank is acquired by getting enough points in the level. You can get either a D, C, B, A, or S Rank based on your performance at the end. Getting to B isn't too difficult if you're aiming for most of the collectibles in a level, but if you want to hit S rank you will have to pull up some leg work.
To get a P Rank in a level, it is expected that you do the following things within one run of any level:
Kill an enemy before leaving the first room
Get enough points for an S Rank
Find all toppins
Find all secrets
Get the secret treasure
Go through the Lap 2 portal
Never drop your combo once

Man after pulling my hair out thanks to Gnome Forest and Crust Cove I genuinely enjoyed P-Ranking Deep Dish 9, such a fast paced and smooth level to playthrough

Bloodsauce Dungeon gave me hell, but one of my friends has it as their favorite level. While I found Gnome Forest to probably be the worst to P rank, others such as yourself found it much easier.

@@ecofriendlydominicanrepublic Crust Cove and Gnome Forest gave me troubles mostly because of impatience from my part, and because I was still getting used to Gustavo and Brick and how some of their controls worked, just recently after P Ranking Pig city did I discover to do their wall jumping properly lol But for Deep Dish 9 the thing that kept me from P rank the most was simply not knowing where was the Third Secret, until I discovered by poking around the place, then it just took me like max 3 or 2 tries to P Rank it, it was genuinely my easiest and most smooth P Rank to date, everything flowed perfectly in that level for me.

man i KNEW i was somehow doing this wrong. i was collecting jerome then jumping off the rocket mid-flight into the opening to the 2nd secret. it's certainly faster but i missed it half the time. so glad there's an easier way

I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I start the combo in the first room by killing the cheeseslime, get all 5 toppins, all 3 secrets, get the janitor secret, finish lap two, all while keeping my combo, and it only gives me A rank. Oh, maybe my score wasn't high enough.

This one was really frustrating for me to do, what helped was realizing if you don't hold forward on the rocket you'll go slightly slower and be better able to Dodge everything

This ensures you're not starting the combo way later, and actually through the whole level. Wish something mentioned this, had the same issue on Fun Farm.

Don't go into the lap 2 room first. In order to get a P rank, you need to start your combo in the first room before going into any other room.

Because the combo adds to the score meter without it updating the number. If your combo never ends, the ranks will still update even if the score counter doesn't.
