7:27 I didn't see the clear paint tray at first so I thought you were just pouring the paint straight on the tarp, which I thought was a degree of chaotic energy at least long dormant if not entirely undiscovered 😆

re: the generational "lack of knowledge"... generally, i think us younger folks are not as capable in older folks' eyes because they simply did not teach us growing up, and now we are figuring it all out from scratch. i don't know how it is in the uk, but in the us all the trade classes were totally removed from our regular schools. lmy older sisters (born '87/'89) had the option to take woodshop and car? shop classes in high school, but soon after those classes were phased out because they weren't adding to state testing scores, i guess. by the time i got to high school (born '98) those classes weren't available anymore. there were "alternative" schools available if i wanted to fully go into a trade, but there wasn't anything for us to casually learn life skills. never got any hands-on skills until i begged my dad to let me use his tools and scrap wood to learn to build a frame for my paintings. and he was still hesitant! i was 18!
@AshofApocalypse11 ай бұрын
I had a similar experience, though probably with a few less barriers because I gained an interest in sewing. My dad took home economic classes in his school because they decided to switch the girls and boys for a year so they’d learn some things on the other side of the spectrum. However I did not learn how to sew from him, I learned it from KZbin tutorials on plushie making. I’m just glad he encouraged me and advised me when I didn’t know what to do for a repair or an alteration. It’s coming in handy since I’ve been doing costuming for a couple years.
@sheaheavey56439 ай бұрын
yep! the only reason i know any life skills is bc i basically begged my dad to teach me how to cook. i’m having to teach myself how to sew, basic car skills, tool skills, etc

I was hesitant about the green but dang did it look good! Also I see SO many influencers doing DIY and grew up with DIY youtube so where boomers get that idea is wild, but at the same time, we also generally don't have the chance to do this kind of DIY as so many of us are still renting so Ikea furniture is about all we can do lmao

I have been a fan of pj since I was a teen and I don’t think I have seen a video for years and the nostalgia this gave me. Unreal. I adore colour bandits and the early skits but the laid back humour in this and my newer lives of renovation is just top tier. Gotta love all of it xx

you mentioned about too bad there isn’t something combing baking and building - there kinda is!! netflix show “baking impossible” pairs a pro baker with an experienced engineer & challenges them to build wild edible contraptions like a boat that is wind-powered & actually sails across the water - made of cake!! i think you’d enjoy, it’s very entertaining & fairly technical!! love the kitchen upgrade by the way, such a chill vibe we love to see it 💚✨

That green colour is so pretty💚 I remember when my parents painted the kitchen walls green and mom's friend come to visit. She just *stated* that green is not suitable color for a kitchen. How rude is that??? According to the Experts. Reason was something to do with it being not good for appetite, idk. It was the first time I remember something being renovated in my childhood home, so it must've felt crappy to my mom to have someone who is into interior design to say she made the absolute incorrect choice. Anyway, green is The colour now and we still have the green walls because my mom chose a color she liked and we are poor so we don't have to follow the whims of trends 😅 I like it too and haven't got tired of it so I don't really see the point of going to someone's home and basically say it's revolting😐 Just use colour the way you yourself like it!!! (and wouldn't mind looking at for +twenty years, if it came to that)
