Fiesta mk5 2002-2008 triple dash how to remove & refit a radio simple step by step guide

I fitted the same stereo in my ford fiesta style 05 whilst following you video today. I have no experiance with cars and only passed my test on Monday, but successfully managed to do it on my own! Big thanks to PJ's projects for the guide. Have successfully completed my installation of my Pioneer cd/mp3 car radio. Can tell you that the, Ford Fusion 2006 is slightly different than the Fiesta as you have to remove the switch from the hazard button also. I broke some of the clip trying to do this, but all is well and is still working. Just be careful when trying to remove the hazard button for Ford Fusion. I fitted this with no lost screws and the heater controls were the most difficult, further more, I used a soldering iron to smooth out the cuts after using clippers to remove the unwanted 2 tier bands, then used a triangular file to clean up to a neat finish. All in all a good job, although this takes much longer than an hour relating to the heating controls, fiddling around. I also used a plastic Bojo tool to undo the clip then removed the steel loop off the heater on the drivers side as illustrated. :) Job's a good one. can recommend this. I put my radio in the top slot and the coin holder at the bottom. Various Bojo tools cost £7.99 for a pack of 4. Fitting kit was £10.70. All bought on eBay.

Just do this to my 2005 Ford Fusion. You have to remove the hazard warning switch which is a pain but apart from that it almost the same. Thanks PJ

Sorry one quick final 😀 question - with the 3.5mm patch lead for the remote volume controls as per the link you sent me, does it connect into the front of a head unit or the rear. Just thinking that if it fits into the front of the head unit does it sacrifice using the socket for other things (aux) in which case I might consider ignoring the remote volume controls? Plus I guess it would look untidy too?

Thank you very much for this guide! Followed it to the word and all went well. Was quite fiddly and took me about two hours, had difficulty keeping the green fan direction cable in whilst putting it all back together, but it finally came together. TO NOTE: When taking the original radio out, it was very difficult to pull it out due to the radio being clamped on a runner, not the case in this guide. I had to pull really hard and it sounded like I was breaking something but it was all fine in the end. QUESTION: How would I fit an additional system to get the steering wheel radio remote controls working with my new radio?

NO, it only works with original fabric mounted stereo.

My grandad has a Zetec model with the triple dash identical, i assume it works the same. He says he will give it to me when i can drive so that will be in 6 months or so, i just watched your tutorial and my goodness what a pain it looks like, not looking forward to it. Hi PJ your great Fiesta triple dash video helped me so much a year or so back and I just wondered if you have any idea what the problem could be here - not Fiesta related. I have a Sony CDX - GT 414 car radio CD player. It also has a front USB slot. For some reason it doesn’t seem to be recognising my Sony Walkman (NW - A3000) anymore. It just comes up with ERROR. Used to work fine with the advantage that you could read some of the unit’s text (now playing etc) but now it doesn’t. Any ideas - it does work OKif I use the headphone jack into the AUX source but obviously you don’t get the same functionality. Appreciate any thoughts and sorry didn’t know how I could contact you other than this way. Kind regards Ken.

Either a faulty USB cable or Walkman sort ware has updated and so is no longer compatible. Failing that the USB socket has a fault but that is very rare.

I need to replace the heater control unit (the blower blows out hot air on the number 4 but not on 1, 2, 3.) All works (temp selector and direction). Am assuming I follow your instructions on removing the dash etc till I get to the unit.

Really useful and easy to follow, thanks very much PJ. Before I go that far though, a quick question - in my car the CD works fine but the radio output is just silent on both AM and FM, no hiss or crackles. In you opinion could that be the roof aerial which looks a bit old and the rubber is stiff, or maybe the connector at the back come adrift (the button type you show in you video) OR does that suggest a radio fault in which case then I need to get myself a new unit? Well the roof aerial is only for FM,the AM aerial is built in to the radio but does have a secondary earth that is shared with the external aerial. It is very rare for the radio to pack up on both AM & FM so I would look at the roof aerial mount and make sure it's getting a good clean earth connection. With age the rubber base tends to split which allows water to seep in to the outer cable are degrade the earth.

Hi PJ have changed roof aerial and checked the roof earth and the aerial to radio connection and all seems good so going to go for a new single din unit probably a Sony. Is the harness adapter you used on the Kenwood universal i.e. for Sony as well? Also you mentioned in another thread that there is an adapter available to enable the steering column control to work - do you have the details and does that change any of the parts listed in your video please? Yes it would work with any major brand but if going for the steering controls version you would not need it. For me to video the way to remove the vents I would of needed a car to come in needing that job doing and seeing as I’m now retired it might be best to buy a cheap Haynes manual from eBay. Sorry I couldn’t help further.

For a radio to not work it’s one of the following- 1. Red wire has no power 2. Yellow wire has no power 3. Black earth wire is not. Connecting to earth. 4. Faulty radio.
