Matthew Wight I was in Chelsea barracks with Irish Guards along with the 2nd Bt Scots Guards. I knew your Father, not personally but from seeing him at Chelsea bks. I was was in the RP staff at the time when the Jocks were marching out the back gate to Buck house. I saw your dad at the rear of the Guard and thought fuck what a smart big bastard he is. He looked every inch a Guardsman. Gleaming from head to toe. I know quite a few Tumbledown Vets, Burrell Pithcathry to name one they all knew your dad and said he was a tremendous bloke. There were three Irish Guards serving with the 2nd Bt when they went down to the Falkland islands in 82, an Officer, who I saw last Paddies day and two Guardsmen, one Dennis Kinsala was shot in the head on Tumbledown but survived. I left the Micks about three months before the War. Best regards and Respect to your Father QS Blue Red Blue.

I was working overseas when I heard about your Dads passing. A very sad day. I was fortunate to work for your Danny for a year with 1SG at Chelsea Barracks. I never forget his humour. A big man in every way. He had the time of day for everyone. He was a great example to follow. Unknown to him, he was an influence on my life. I think of him often. A good man and a pity that there aren`t more like him.

I'm ex-Para, I left a couple of years before the Falklands kicked off` -I lost one good friend, Wullie Hatton, from Hamilton Shortly after the war I was talking to a Scots Guards corporal who was at Luss Highland Ganes with a recruiting team ( good-looking sod he was, the lassies were giving him the eye!) There was no bullshit about him , he was a solid pro, and he said that the Argentinian Marines "were nae mugs and brave too" . God rest them all, no matter which flag they fought under

The Scots Guards lost 5 men during the assault by Left Flank. 2 more were killed by a mortar while carrying wounded off the mountain late on the morning of the 14th. Lastly we lost 1 Scots Guards and 1 Royal Engineer in the diversion attack at Ponies Pass prior to Tumbledown.
@wullies1116 жыл бұрын
The diversionary attack... Drill sgt Wight was an amazing man, we used to march to buck house and when we were leaving the barracks and the pipes were playing he would shout HERE WE GO as we were marching through the bottom arch at chealsea barracks and it gave you some lift, god we were proud when that happened. May he rest in peace, ill never forget him he made my life what it is today, Good.

In 1982 the 5th Marines Batallion had aprox. 1.000 men; where the majority of they, 800 men, were conscripts. The BIM 5 sent 707 men to the islands. Becouse of the lack of officers, sub officers and corporals they made Dragoneantes. The Dragoneante is a conscripts who during his trainer shows betters qualities over the rest of the men, so he receive additionally trainer and eventually he has capacity of command over they.

JUAN LOPEZ AND JOHN WARD I was fortunate a strange time. The planet had been parceled out to different countries each equipped with loyalties of fond memories, certainly a heroic past, of grievances, a peculiar mythology of heroes bronze, anniversaries, demagogues and symbols. This arbitrary division was favorable to war. Lopez was born in the city by the river motionless Ward, on the outskirts of the city that Father Brown walked. He had studied Castilian to read Don Quixote.

The truth is that the British Forces thought that they fought against a enteraly batallion in the battle for Toumbledown Mount. The Scots Guard fouht against 200 marines of the NACAR Company, the majority of they were conscripts. The BIM 5 was divided in three companies, the NACAR, OBRA (Easth of Toumbledown) and the MAR (Sapper Hill) . They fouth against the V brigade whith three Battallions, the Scots Guards, Welsh Guard and the Gurkhas.
