I grew up a Montreal fan and I'm 27 years old now. In my teenage years watching Pacioretty, Subban, Price was just amazing , Subban was my favorite player. No matter what everybody said he left everything on the ice and put all of his heart and soul into the game of hockey when he was wearing the Habs jersey. I know there was politics involved in the locker room when he got traded because of Gallagher and other players complaining but it was never the same when he left!

PK is probably one of the biggest players in terms of growing the game. This man has always been and will always be authentically himself. PK in Montreal was the best thing to happen to the NHL when it comes to growth. Subban family is spectacular the entire way through.

PK mentions that hockey is the best sport to watch live and he couldn't be more right. I have converted 2 friends into being die hard hockey fans just by bringing them to a game. I think a really big part of it is that you're so close to the action. If you have seats in the front row, next to the glass, you're about to have some of the most talented athletes in the world performing amazing feats inches away from you. You might get lucky and have a goal celebration right in front of you. You're jumping up and down, they're jumping up and down. You're in it! You're celebrating that goal right there with your team. With the goal scorer himself! It's amazing. I know Pat talked about how the refs are a part of the game, a part of the action, in one of the "Hockey is Awesome" segs. So are the fans. You can feel that at a hockey game more than any other sporting event. Hockey is AWESOME!

The US didn’t care about hockey once ESPN dropped hockey. Now hockey has far more NHL teams in the States (25)than Canada has (7). Instead of a niche, elitist sport, hockey is becoming a bit more mainstream. More states, cities and communities have youth hockey. The biggest problem with hockey is it’s the most difficult team sport to play. First, and most important, you must be able to skate. Therefore, most people don’t have the same connection to hockey other sports have. Kids play baseball, basketball, soccer and football so they have connections to those sports, even if they only play in their backyard. Access to ice isn’t available everywhere. I’m glad to see hockey expanding its reach. I played as a kid and three of my four kids played. Such a fun and high energy sport. Go Flyers
