I timed my recline with the rhythm of his kicks, and I snapped the chair back as hard as I could while his legs were fully extended. He started crying, but he also stopped kicking my fucking chair.

My thought is it's ok to recline because everyone has equal opportunity to recline. Therefore I recline (mostly when I sleep though). That bneing said, that last row shouldn't exist because that man has no opportunity to recline - but the airliner needs to make as much money as possible to it keeps that last row. He could have handled it better by explaining his situation to the woman saying he has way less space than the other passengers because he is last row.

Some years ago the seat arrangement on airplanes was less cramped, so you had more space. this has changed you now have like 10~25cm less space. Add to this than people have been growing higher and bigger. Now why are airplanes not removing the future? Easy 1: It costs money, 2: Chairs stockpiled and are made to specifications. A crapton of tests have to be done if you want to modify that chair, that costs a Lot of $$$$, 3: its a luxury (one that is stupid but hey. it is like a free candy, it doesn't matter that it's a grows old candy as long as it's free) 4: Politics! if they change it there is a GIANT Risk of a LOT of people complaining there taking away your rights. In reality, it's taking away a luxury and just think of the headline airplane companies caved in to assholes than want to take away your rights, and of cores, the airplane companies agree because they make money on it... -_-

Some background context is that the lady has a herniated disc or something so she requires to be seated at an incline in order to relieve pain. The guy DID ask her to move her seat up while he eats, she waited til she thought he was done (didn't actively check) and reclined back to her original position. Guy tapped on her seat to give her the subtle hint and even spoke up a few times (rudely) about her behaviors inconveniencing him. What your seeing is when she didn't get the subtle hint so he started doing it more aggressively. Stewardess comes by to address the situation. The only blame I can give the guy is that he should have asked to get a different seat when the stewardess came by. Lady clearly wasn't going to put her seat up and felt entitled to recline her seat back without informing the guy about her situation. Guy is expected to just read her mind and go "Oh your comfort is way more important than that of my own, please, give me dead leg for the next few hours so your back doesn't hurt to bad."

unless it is a 8h + flight why are the chairs not locked so they cant go back? im 6'4 and had some people trying to move their chair and they cant, my knees are in the way, sometimes they relent, sometimes they think the chair is broken and call the stewardess or steward to check it out, they looked at me once and i point to my knees and the stewardess told the other guy the chair was broken :) Once a guy got up and were gonna say something to me, but before he did i stood up and asked if he could move so i could go to the toilet, he was tiny, like 6'0 or smaller and just sat down, came back and he had not pushed back his chair and he did not try it during the entire flight. Maybe it helped that i been an athlete since i was 6 years old and were around 300lbs at that time(pause from martial art and did mostly lifting weights) :P so yea most ppl are tiny to me, my knees often enough to prevent people from pushing back their chair
