Undertale is literally the gateway drug to these games for many people. It's cool that everybody loves the same thing right? It was the same way with Earthbound and Xenoblade Chronicals with Smash 4. Smash led me to Earthbound, Earthbound led me to a love of RPG's, RPG's led me to Xenoblade and Undertale, Undertale led me to the Halloween hack Homestuck and Cog Dis. We all most likely have similar experiences so why not be grateful of this long line of luck in finding things you can enjoy and love?

So, from what I understand: MOTHER: CogDis is a fangame made by a group of nerds who love MOTHER. It takes place between MOTHER 1 and 2. It follows a group of enemies from MOTHER 2, now on a quest to erase the events of the previous game, and to kill Giygas (I have no idea on this one) The game is made with RPG Maker, made with the intention of being a lot darker, and has a ridiculously epic theme for the "Paradox Ending", in which you erase the events of the previous game, causing a paradox timeline to happen (I MEAN, COME ON! IT USES A *SIREN* AS A *MAIN* INSTRUMENT!).

i haven't finished cog dis yet, but this megalovania shines i think in the unique feeling it creates. earthbound was simply an epic theme, and homestuck tried to amp up and tailor it's megalovania to the specific characters involved, but both cog dis and undertale change it up with a reimagining. Undertale's theme sounds high stakes and desperate, matching the feel of the fight from both sides. However, I always get the feeling from this version that it feels like the apocalypse - the world feels like it's falling apart around you with this iteration.

I don't know why but this Megalovania gives me a sad feeling for some reason. There's just something in this particular version of Megalovania among all of the others that makes it sad. Is it the instruments? The beats? I don't know.

The chosen ones have seen this, and the chosen 4 have decided that you have gone to far this time, and go against you. Giygas starts fighting you both desperately, hoping he might live to see another sunrise. The chosen 4 focus on you, seeing you as the main threat. You, however, see them both as just in the way. The chosen 4 are dying, they’ve finally met their match. Giygas, seeing your power, gives up, and he dies. At long last, it’s over. They’re all dead. The universe begins to collapse as the prophecy has been broken. Mother 2 and 3 can no longer take place, and as the apple of enlightenment has been proven one, which has never happened before, as it is impossible. The universe simply collapses. Everything about this is an intense battle, but also very, very sad.

The song that has built my life. I gotta give props to Undertale. First, I watched as Sans was mercilessly killed by an evil, possessed child. Then I listened to the Halloween hack version and then I found the Homestuck version of Megalovania, which lead me to [S] Wake, which made me become interested in homestuck around half a year later, after the Undertale hype calmed down a little bit: Now, its led me to this great game. Basically everything I love has had some relation with Megalovania except for probably VVVVVV. I love every version of this song.

So, basically, in this ending you traumatize the already traumatized Giegue even further by singing the least appropriate song possible in the least appropriate moment possible, causing him to, basically, curl up and retreat deeper into his mind. It's not just twisting the knife in the wound of poor Giegue - it's sticking the motorized iron wire brush into it and running it at full speed. Do you leave him at that? No, you follow him with intentions to continue fighting. Then you fight with what are either chrono-projections of the previous clique of the protagonists or their imprints in Giegue's memory, which he tries to use to shield himself from you. Of course, your party manages to destroy them and whack his core personality even further. With nowhere to retreat and being so damaged and traumatized, he just... gives up and dies. Mission complete, I guess.. Yay. Even though the reality itself is wobbling from the way you did it. But hey, the universe is safe now, right? Right?..

Undertale had more control and focus to is, basically we KNEW who he was targeting and it was US. Homestuck has more of a kick ass feel, like you're ready to take on an armi of bad guys of the week with an iron fist up their ass, Cog Dis has a weird otherworldly feel to it, giving a feeling that what we are fighting isn't from this world, and Earthbound's was the most experimental version, though it showed us it was the final stand of a man who was falling apart since the very beginning.
