I LOVE to see reactions to music that people have not experienced before. When you study the lyrics, the emotions will make even more sense. This is one of the great tenor arias, and the entire opera is magnificent. It's called "Tosca". Domingo is still with us, though not performing now but he is also a conductor and has a wide range of musical talents. I encourage you to listen to more of his work.

I have been fortunate enough in my life to see Placido Domingo, and Pavarotti and Jose Carreras in separate concerts over the years in the early 90’s. Domingo was always my favourite, but they are three very different tenors. Placido did a live version of Tosca in 1992 from the very locations used in the Opera, and at the times of day mentioned in the opera when the action takes place. It was beamed around the world. He basically didn’t sleep because the last act, where this aria is performed, is set at night, very late, midnight or early hours of the morning. It was amazing. I think it’s available on video.

The GOAT Domingo became famous for, among other things, his rendition of this iconic aria for the whole of his career, and beyond. So glad you were impressed. I recommend you try next his l'improvviso from Andrea Chenier by Giordano. Or, even moreso, his Mein Lieber Schwann from Lohengrin by Wagner. Glorious. Paz y salud.

As much as I love Pavarotti, Domingo's version of this is better.

Maestro Domingo's voice is so powerful because he has a natural baritone, but he was advised at the start of his career to re-train his voice to take tenor roles. It was very effective advice, because he became a greatly admired Wagnerian heldentenor. Only later in his career did he revert to occasional baritone roles. He is also an accomplished pianist and a conductor. In my opinion he is better than Pavarotti.

I have something very special for you to listen to, it is Angelina Jordan at 10 years old. it is a demo she did for the dong I'm Still Holding Out for You. The song was leaked a few years ago and a fan mad a lyrics video for it. Once you hear the song you will understand why I keep saying her age. The original song writer is called Baby Fuzz and he did record it a couple of years after she did the demo. You can find his version on KZbin. but her version hits different and will move you.
