I had this album on cassette tape, one of the 4-5 albums I could afford, and would listen to them in a loop, this one particularly. I would bring the cassete player into my room , put headphones in and listen till I fell asleep. This song was always my favorite from BMM. My room was covered in posters of bands I grew up with and loved, Placebo being one of them. It was 2004 and I was 16 in Bucharest, Romania. Haven't listened to Placebo on the regular since about 2006. Rediscovering them now fills me with nostalgia and sorrow for my wasted youth. I still know all the lyrics, and remember every beat.

He is right. Not everyone is an artist just because he picks up an instrument and starts scratching/hitting/blowing it. There are many bands out there whose only purpose is fame and money, that doesn't mean they are artists, they are just money-grabbers. Placebo in particular are magnificent in everything they've done so far, although I myself don't like their whole discography. That's the meaning of excellence.

Brilliant (mine opinion) how he described the main narcissist (NPD) manipulation technique in just one sentence. "It's in your reach, concentrate if deny this, then it's your fault". The problem is that, "it" will be never in your reach. No matter how hard you'll try. Narcissist must be always right, and you always wrong. Passive aggressive means he is using you, and your flaws as your aggressor without being aggressive directly (to be blamed as such). You want to be better, you want to not hurt, you want to be good.. but it will never be in you reach if let judged by narcissists. It's like to follow your own tail. It will never be in your reach... If you rise she/he will fall and vice versa. Never to be game of both rising always like a ping-pong game between two people.

curious, i interpreted this song as a situation where i reach for my goals and i do get them while my mom is being abusive and passive agressive and has no connection with what i'm doing but she is envy to oblivion
@KabelkowyJoe2 жыл бұрын
@@enabler2456 Maybe cause, before i wrote comment, just learnt about how huge that problem is in our society and reason some of mine relationships gone wrong, blaming mineself all the time. Recent example of how huge that problem is, no matter how much money you have Johny Deep vs Amber Hard spectacle. So happened i dealt with narcissist ex girlfriend and work mate (male) realised mind told her to be with me, but heart was trying to runaway. But she could not blame herself - cause she was perfect in her mind. So she was passive agressive so i would feel bad and she to be seen as victim. It took me couple years of flashbacks, other relationships to understand it wasnt mine fault. You can't force anyone to love you, no matter how you try to be "perfect". We split somehow neither me nor her found hapiness. Better it was in theory, she did what she wanted, we had nice time together and with mostly her friends, worse it was between us. Understood her relationship with her mom, bosses in her job was very simmilar to what was between us. Like some kind of habbit to turn good moments into nightmare. But now im reading what i wrote listening song again i would not say necesarely it was best interpretation of that particular song. Plus - English it's not mine primary language ;) Sorry for that. In a song he is calling her, beging her, he wasn't singing about current status of his feelings, but calling whoever he is calling to give him a chance. To focus, to find space for him, last call before they split and it will be over? He described what used to happen - more he tried to be better, she was sad. Maybe it was like Vera Papp said. Relationship with his mom? It's kinda simmilar situation.

@28CarsLater9 жыл бұрын
+Gilbert Belpalme Sucks pal, but you're better off as she apparently wasn't part of your destiny. The only time I would say you're not better off is when she's taken from you. Mine was taken from me after recovering from a bone marrow transplant. She unexpectedly slipped into a coma and couldn't call and tell me what happened. Her parents to whom I felt empathy, but now anger, didn't call me until the next day. Its all happened so fast they said, they were just in such shock they said as it was only a few hours from coma to passing. I ended up having to let it go because it was holding me down. She loved me and wanted to spend our lives together, nothing can change those facts. I was necessary for her to complete her destiny, otherwise she would have died unloved by another in this life. Took a solid year to the day (this past Dec 8) until after being insulted by her father *at* the mausoleum in front of the vault which holds her that I finally thought fuck you people. Only child or not, this is over It can't work without her and she's not coming back in this life. I am the fool for having empathy for you two and inviting you to join me on the first anniversary of that awful day. Falls apart, indeed. Now instead of feeling empathy/sadness for hearing this ask yourself this question: whats life about? There is no wrong answer but whatever your answer is follow it. I believe it will lead you to your destiny. For me, after four months I concluded life is about the people who are in it. Cheers.

@@archi4226 Maybe from the song writing freedom perspective, it is really restrictive and thematic. There were more free albums, but none of them was as free as the first album logically. Nevertheless the soundengineering in this one is amazing, no way to top by probably anyone. I am maybe biased but this is sound is huge, analog and real. The guitar sound triple better than Sonic Youth.

This gives me flashbacks of playing Morrowind as a teen lol. Love how music brings back memories and experiences you'd never normally remember
