being addicted to heroin is so much like being in a toxic relationship. something you love so much but know you shouldn't be with. Can't stand the "miserable sad user" story anymore!!! I'm a user myself and you know what? I'm a VERY happy man, my life is fantastic and, even though i know that things could be different... i've given hours of thought to the subject and just can't find the substance guilty i any way. Society will lay the "self fulfilling profecy" on you but saying *"if you're gonna use you'll get lots of problems in return"* ... and then fucking WORK to enforce those very problems upon you!! It would be fair if after saying that, society took a step back and gave you complete room (no tabus and prejudice, no stupid laws, nothing) to actually see about those problems... Cause they could be surprised.

it's neither about society nor about anything else. The process of using is incomplete without the process of stopping. This is about you just like it was all about me at the time, I felt and saw things exactly like how you're describing them, I was a happy user until I realized that whatever happiness H gave me there was still something missing, turns out what was missing was control, the ability to be in the driving seat of every aspect of my life. This may sound absurd to you at the moment but when you complete the entire cycle you'll appreciate the fact that you were a user more than you can imagine and you'll realize that it has always been about you and no one else.

I know a lot of people who identify with these songs have a history of drug abuse but these songs speak to a different demon inside me. My addiction that ruined my life, that I struggled for years to overcome, was being in love with someone addicted to drugs. He actually introduced this band to me, only he thought it was cool junkie music but to me the music spoke to the sad hole in my heart that was him. That soul sucking black hole that leaves you feeling completely numb and cold. This music helped me recognize the pain I felt and gave it a name. I still listen to these songs every once in a while because I can still remember, I can still feel what I felt then but instead of hating it, I accept it. It is a part of me. But Love is and will always be my drug of choice, next to food 😉

If heroin had a sound, this would be it. Its not just the lyrics, its the actual song as whole. Slow, warm and dreamy, romantic all while still maintaining the melancholy of his voice and the feeling that it's all just synthetic. Its beautiful and its destructive, just like how I believe heroin feels. Can only speak for myself but if you haven't tried it, please dont and just listen to this song. This is closest you can get without ruining your life, I promise.

To me, heroin is a woman scorned. You love her, she doesn't love you back, and when you need out, she makes sure it's literal hell. This song was on repeat for me when I was "kicking". It's torture, painful, the lyrics capture every single emotion flawlessly, and it inspired me to write my own story, which -- much like heroin -- I could never share with people. Some just don't understand the appeal, they think we're scum. But studies have shown that most users are in the upper IQs, we aren't scum, we are empathetic to a fault, and this world is merciless, so we attempt to "flush all the pain away"....

Next to Lana Del Rey, Brian Molko is probably the most criminally underrated singer ever. His songs speak, where others just go endlessly on and on about worthless stuff. I am 44 and I follow the Placebo as I followed the unhappy parable of the Nirvana, but in the wise hands of Dave, I heard that sound in the melodies of the Q.O.T.S.A.

Never thought you'd make me perspire Never thought I'd do you the same Never thought I'd fill with desire Never thought I'd feel so ashamed Me and the dragon can chase all the pain away So before I end my day remember My sweet prince you are the one My sweet prince You are the one Never thought I'd have to retire Never thought I'd have to abstain Never thought all this could back fire Close up the hole in my vain Me and my valuable friend Can fix all the pain away So before I end my day, remember My sweet prince You are the one Never thought I'd get any higher Never thought you'd fuck with my brain*** Never thought all this could expire Never thought you'd go break the chain Me and you baby Still flush all the pain away So before I end my day, remember My sweet prince You are the one

Местами, необычное описание зависимости: заставило вникнуть. Музыка и исполнение вызывают настроение противоположное ко смыслу песни: прослушивается на одном дыхании

Brutal-ass song. Today, I showed my friends "Something Rotten". They didn't think Placebo sounded like that. I was blown away by the reaction. I wanted to play this song, which is gloomy and pretty dark. But It wasn't the mood for the night.

This song is devastating. I remember when this CD came out in 97 or 98. The first year together with my girlfriend who's now my wife. Watching her die every day of huntington's disease and this song just makes me pull her closer.
