being addicted to heroin is so much like being in a toxic relationship. something you love so much but know you shouldn't be with. This is the best depiction of what it's like that I've heard in the form of song. Edit: I've been clean for a year now and 100% sure I was high when I posted this comment

Can't stand the "miserable sad user" story anymore!!! I'm a user myself and you know what? I'm a VERY happy man, my life is fantastic and, even though i know that things could be different... i've given hours of thought to the subject and just can't find the substance guilty i any way. Society will lay the "self fulfilling profecy" on you but saying *"if you're gonna use you'll get lots of problems in return"* ... and then fucking WORK to enforce those very problems upon you!! It would be fair if after saying that, society took a step back and gave you complete room (no tabus and prejudice, no stupid laws, nothing) to actually see about those problems... Cause they could be surprised.

it's neither about society nor about anything else. The process of using is incomplete without the process of stopping. This is about you just like it was all about me at the time, I felt and saw things exactly like how you're describing them, I was a happy user until I realized that whatever happiness H gave me there was still something missing, turns out what was missing was control, the ability to be in the driving seat of every aspect of my life. This may sound absurd to you at the moment but when you complete the entire cycle you'll appreciate the fact that you were a user more than you can imagine and you'll realize that it has always been about you and no one else.

I know a lot of people who identify with these songs have a history of drug abuse but these songs speak to a different demon inside me. My addiction that ruined my life, that I struggled for years to overcome, was being in love with someone addicted to drugs. He actually introduced this band to me, only he thought it was cool junkie music but to me the music spoke to the sad hole in my heart that was him. That soul sucking black hole that leaves you feeling completely numb and cold. This music helped me recognize the pain I felt and gave it a name. I still listen to these songs every once in a while because I can still remember, I can still feel what I felt then but instead of hating it, I accept it. It is a part of me. But Love is and will always be my drug of choice, next to food 😉

If heroin had a sound, this would be it. Its not just the lyrics, its the actual song as whole. Slow, warm and dreamy, romantic all while still maintaining the melancholy of his voice and the feeling that it's all just synthetic. Its beautiful and its destructive, just like how I believe heroin feels. Can only speak for myself but if you haven't tried it, please dont and just listen to this song. This is closest you can get without ruining your life, I promise.

Wow... cool comment... i never tried... I'm attracted to almost every "pharmaceutical"... but my basic is luckily "just" weed... I'm absolutely addicted that's no question... But: i pay my rent, i do my work (very well btw) and I always have enough staff (and can pay it). It took me several years to handle this. I started Ganja smoking with 18, now I'm 38... I lost my driving license for weed.. and actual i see to many friends falling down on Tina (Methamphetamin)... but i still can't imagine how worst Heroin must be... and i don't want to know...

To me, heroin is a woman scorned. You love her, she doesn't love you back, and when you need out, she makes sure it's literal hell. This song was on repeat for me when I was "kicking". It's torture, painful, the lyrics capture every single emotion flawlessly, and it inspired me to write my own story, which -- much like heroin -- I could never share with people. Some just don't understand the appeal, they think we're scum. But studies have shown that most users are in the upper IQs, we aren't scum, we are empathetic to a fault, and this world is merciless, so we attempt to "flush all the pain away"....

Youth spent on Kurt. Middle age will be spent on Placebo. Just discovered Placebo and so many of their songs bring back the comfort in being sad. The first three I’m hooked onto are all from this album - My Sweet Prince, Every You and Every Me, The Crawl.

Next to Lana Del Rey, Brian Molko is probably the most criminally underrated singer ever. His songs speak, where others just go endlessly on and on about worthless stuff. In my opinion, to write songs like these, you must have had to live through everything you write, otherwise it wouldnt be so deep and meaningful, so true, and that it what makes it so beautiful to me

Yesterday I saw my ex boyfriend when I was driving. It was so fucking amazing and at the same time terrible feeling. Approaching him would be odd, but leaving him without using that opportunity to talk to him was more heartbreaking. Later on, sounds of this song came to my mind. Now it’s 1am and I am listening to this masterpiece, crying and wondering if we ever get back together, My Sweet Price, you are the one. :,(
