Hi Andie, I hope you're doing well. I firstly want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing this. I'm literally a year below you in thesame uni and on thesame course (what a coincidence right?? Lol). You have helped me alot to feel less anxious about going back to uni as I have been panicking A LOT! being at home for a very long time (although I've been doing courses via clinical physio) I felt less confident and just worried about going into second year but watching you has helped me alot. I'm so sorry if this is too long. I just wanted you to know that your content is amazing and extremely helpful and THANK YOU ones again and I wish you all the best in your placement xx And Happy Birthday Anuska (I'm sorry if its spelt wrong). Xx

Love this video but it scares me how much you have to learn! I'm a yr13 student, starting in Sep for physio and the content you show is so overwhelming! In my mind I'm thinking how on earth I'm going to be smart enough to understand that 😂.
@andiecann611
@andiecann611 3 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness! Don't stress out at all! We go to university/college to learn and sure it might be overwhelming at times (but trust me you aren't alone). And I must say, I think those who succeed aren't those who are necessarily 'smarter' but those who put in the time and have a passion for what they are learning and doing. It's ok to be nervous, but don't be scared - You'll love it!

Hi Andie! That video was amazing! I love the way that you study and prepare for your placement, I feel do related as I LOVE to be always prepared! I'm so grateful for your channel cause I really have been feeling down lately cause apparently theres no school now and i havent studied in SO long that i forgot most of the basics and I've been looking for someone in the same shoe who would just motivate me to study again and you are that person!!! Thanks a lot! And btw I'm gonna follow you everywhere cause you're the sweetest ever!! And HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY ANUSHKA 💕💕

You’re so so so sweet 🥰 this comment made my day! Don’t feel alone though, it is definitely hard to get back into the rhythm of things - it takes a lot to stop just laying in bed doing nothing and go be productive. But it always helps to remind yourself of what you want to achieve and why, and that taking that first step to doing what’s better for you will get you to that goal.

as for fitting in yeah you can fit it in definitely but I suppose with placements where you’re working full-time it’s harder for sure. But if it’s a normal uni life then yeah you can definitely fit it in! The editing is the prt which takes a looonggg time 😩

Hey, I have a stroke placement in just over a weeks time. Kinda wondering what the expectations will be as it’s my first placement?
@andiecann611
@andiecann611 Жыл бұрын
Hi that’s so exciting!! Message me on Instagram and I can send you some voice notes more on what to expect and what you could do ☺️ andie.cann Short answer though - although all stroke areas will differ in they’re management and funding, expect all presentations of your pts to be different even if diagnosed with the same type of stroke. They will require different management plans depending on their social situation and own personal goals but you will get great insight into the true importance of working as an MDT (dietician, SLTs, PT, OT, Drs, Nurses TAs etc) It’s a great placement! You will learn the importance of hands on and functional rehab and how rewarding physio can truly be!

How long are placements is it 12-14 hours like nurses?
@andiecann611
@andiecann611 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! No, so basically it will generally be 8 hours x 5 days a week but obviously this differs between universities and placements. Your hours can depend on the hours of your educator but ward based placements will usually be 8-4 or 8:30-4:30 :)

Hi Andie, love your channel! Thankyou for making this video. I’m a physio student in Australia and wondering if you have any tips on how to remember all the different injuries, their mechanisms, clinical features, tests and treatments. I’ve written everything into tables but there’s so many things to remember! Xx
@andiecann611
@andiecann611 4 жыл бұрын
Mia G hey Mia! Thanks so much ♥️♥️ honestly these comments give me life! To be honest there’s no easy way around them but it can make it so much clearer by organising the notes in the right way. Also I highly recommend talking through them in a way where you use reasoning behind it because it will make more sense in your mind where instead of “memorising” your “understanding” why they’re presenting in a certain why and therefore why you’re doing that treatment... if you get me?
@andiecann611
@andiecann611 4 жыл бұрын
Obviously it’s inevitable to have memorisation parts in relation to anatomy etc but by speaking it out aloud and writing it down will help in trying to engrain information - repetition and understanding is key! That way you don’t end up having to memorise treatments or clinical features as much because it just makes sense.
@andiecann611
@andiecann611 4 жыл бұрын
I would recommend (because there are so many conditions) starting basic then building on it because if you try to overload a lot of information about multiple different conditions it can become very overwhelming (which I’m sure you’re familiar with haha because I certainly was during the first two years)
@andiecann611
@andiecann611 4 жыл бұрын
Ok so I’m trying to type out but it might be difficult so what could make it clearer is if you want to send me a message on Instagram, I could send you a voice note! Is that ok? 😂

Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply to me and writing all that out. It means a lot. I will most definitely try and use that method. I haven’t thought of recording myself before but feel it will help a lot actually saying it out loud. Thanks so much Andie, looking forward to your future videos! Best of luck with your studies x

where is your placement in which hospital? you choose the hospital you want to work in ?? am I able to wear scrubs or something more comfortable than polos ?? :\
@andiecann611
@andiecann611 4 жыл бұрын
This placement was at Trafford :) This was a placement so the university allocates you however at MMU we have an alective in which we can choose where to have our final placement. Then you can apply for jobs. In terms of uniform it depends on the placement, usually it's between a polo or a tunic however that's something you ask your supervisor before beginning :)

Hey! You too :) I would say a mixture of specific textbooks, apps/videos to assist in visualising anatomy, youtube videos from physios like clinical physio or physiotutor AND physically practicing on others is the best way.
