Presence of the 3 kinds of reefs in india: a. Fringing reef- In the east coast of A&N , Gulf of kutch of Gujarat and Gulf of Mannar of Tamil Nadu. These are the ones which are attached to the coastline b. Barrier reef- in the west coast of A & N. These grow away from the mainland causing barrier to the ships thus the name. c. Atoll reef- in the lakshwadeep group. These are circular shaped circumfering the oceanic structures like islands, M.O.R etc. Thank you so much for the yet another unparallel and amazing session..! The prelims part of UPSC is so difficult for me but your lectures make me understand map questions in the most effective and interesting way... !!

#Lakshadweep - atoll reefs (ring shaped and encircle the lagoon) #All others area - fringing reefs (reefs directly attached to the land mass). # west A&N - barrier reefs (|| to shore)

western Margin of A&N has barrier reefs as per google. Please check and confirm madam
