DeltaCommand I, while not a microbiologist, had the same reaction. Question: how true to the different forms of illnesses (bacteria, virus, fungus, etc) did the game do, with respect to mutation/transmission? I’ve always thought that I learned a few things about different forms of illnesses from the game, but I’ve always wondered how medically accurate the different forms of the “plague” were.

The reason Transmission by Water equates to Transmission by Ship is ballast water. Ships use water they pump in, or out, of tanks to maintain their height in the water. So they pick up "nasty" water at point A, then pump some out as they travel towards point B. It's also a major mechanism for the spread of invasive aquatic species.

Hey, Jon...an older game that came to mind that's in a similar vein to this. DEFCON. I'd recommend that. The cold, eerie, disconnected nature of looking down on the world, placing symbols down that represent things like missile silos and anti missile emplacements and war ships...and then firing off nukes and trying to kill as many people as possible is a brilliant bit of game design I think you might really appreciate.

I had a zombie game once where I saved DNA until I could rush reanimation than remove all my symptoms other than it without unpausing. I had infected most of the world, and was slowly building up super-mutant zombies, when a tsunami hit somewhere in South America, a thousand people were suddenly undead, and then that entire country was zombies before the game even had time to write the reports of my existence in the news bar. Things happened very quickly after that.

Yeah I always avoid things even like sweating, coughing etc. I try to have the virus have absolutely no symptoms and once about 85% of the world is infected then use all DNA points and making it just start killing people like mad,

I’ve been playing this game for years. If you you keep devolving symptoms when they come up and keep your infectivity (transmission) high until everyone is infected, then when everyone it infected, crank up your symptoms, you’ll win without much issue.
