In politics, I think it's propaganda and stupid, but I've been hired to go to the front rows of music concerts and look like I'm having a great time and super excited. There's a big difference between an entertainment event that is televised and a political rally though. Since then there is a word for paid claques in German: Jubelperser, literally cheering Persians. I know that it is important to get good pictures for a rally.
