I have fond memories of living in Portsmouth, NH beginning in 58-62. Dad bought a used beetle to drive to work and it became our only car. I had two brothers and two sisters. Dad would drive us all down to Boston to see the orchestra on the river and go to a huge book store. Seven people in a bug. We are still close though Mom and Dad are long gone.

I have a stock ‘65. The beetle hold memories for people born before 1975. I always get to hear stories and reminiscence of their experience and their Beatles. It’s a real conversation starter.

I have a restored, Java Green 1967 Beetle, Sunroof exactly like yours. It has the "Fresh Air" package, so called by the dealers when a Bug was purchased with sunroof and pop-out quarter windows. Mine also has the Univents in the kick panels, also a dealer option that most people passed on, like the one-year-only Bendix Sapphire AM-FM Mono radio. I have had it since 1969. Restored twice, actually. Was my daily driver for about 25 years. Now, it's my driving time-machine. If you think the 1967 Beetle is a special, one year-only type car, try a 1967 Beetle convertible, which is even more so. I have a restored one of those, too. Love the 67s! Your tan "Gazelle" interior is year correct as is the Headliner with the rear "Window Box" frame trim. Your 67 is actually a 1967 1/2 because of the position of the front seat-back release lever relocated to half-way up the seat back, about half way through the production year. Your wiper blades are in the correct position, laying flat against the rubber windshield molding. You may wish to align your steering wheel back to horizontal. Your 67 has a bit of what I call classic "67 Squat", with a bit of rear-end sag, caused by a combination of softening rear shocks, torsion and "Z" bar suspension, also used on the 1968 Bug. Your 67 apparently has also undergone a slight restoration at some point because of the black fender beading. Nice car, keep if forever in your family.

It looked like the backup lights were out at the start of the video. It could be that the car was rolling back on a slight incline with reverse, not engaged. It's truly a beautiful daily driver restoration. 👍

My parents traded a 60 Beetle for a brand new light blue 67 Beetle when I was 3 years old. I used to ride in the space between the engine and the back seat. Dad sold it in the early 70s after buying a used pickup. Later when I was in middle school, Dad bought a used light blue 67, and overhauled the engine. It then ran great, and Dad later recalled it as one of our best cars.

I bought the predecessor of this one new in 1965…YES, it had the 1500cc engine! Installed new by the dealer with the blessing of the VW importer in Houston. When I asked the dealer to install a Judson supercharger he called VW about the warranty. The installation was $295 extra but cam with warranty. I added the EMPI scavenger exhaust and a “Fish Canadian” carburetor. I got stopped by a Missouri highway patrolman doing 79 mph. He didn’t give me a ticket because he said he knew a bug couldn’t go more than the 70 mph speed limit on I-44! What a great car. Same color exterior, lighter interior.

Yeah, I have precious memories of riding in behind the rear seat as a little kid of what at the time would have been a '63 Beetle with the cutest little girl, the daughter of family friends, and how we would giggle happily while sharing secrets with each other. I Had a Green '67 Bug ; I Replaced a Spring Advancing Timing Plate - and Put in a Centrifugal Advance Ditributor and added to that a Slotted Plastic Disc Photo Eye Timing and the Car Ran Lika a Clock (No Irradic Movements afterwards) Ran a Quart of Diesel Through the Carb , Lots of White Smoke but it Loosened the Topend up. Friends of Mine Couldn't Believe How it Ran So Good?? I Had Later Put on "Under Dash" White or Plastic Full Length Parcel Tray one side to the other -I've Never ever seen another One ! One Time I Moved a Full Sized Dresser inside the Bug after Removing all The Seats... with a Roof Rack Full of the Drawers Strapped Down . One Time I was at a "Car Wreckers Lot" and Spotted a '56 VW Bug with Rear Oval Window in Excellent Shape , Rocker Panels where Solid , I Begged and Pleaded for the Owner of the Wrecker to Sell it to Me after a Time He Gave in .Later in that week a Friend Help me Tow it Back Home and after Permission of "Dept. of Highways" I was able to Put back on the Road again ! And like Henry Ford Said ; You can have any Color you Want as Long as its Black...

My '67 was a white deluxe. I remember that in minus zero temps, within ten miles, it would start burning the feet of the rear passengers. Heat was not a problem. The only thing I remember having to do to it was a valve job because the previous owner didn't realize you had to adjust the valves, and I had to replace the oil cooler seals, which I and a friend managed to do with the engine in situ. Looking back, I'm sure it was one of the best cars I've ever owned.

Bought mine for $1,967 in the Spring of 1967 in a closed-bid sale offered to employees of the insurance company my dad worked for, Outbid the second-highest bidder by $23. When I bought it the car had 6,000 miles on it, had been stolen by never-apprehended thieves from its original owner in Bremerton, Washington, driven to Reno, Nevada, and left on the street. It was in perfect condition. The Tacoma, Washington insurance company had it driven back to Tacoma and sold in the described auction. I kept it until the Spring of '83, when I sold it (with 319,000 miles on it) for $900 to a woman whose mechanic boyfriend insisted that she buy it. I was lucky never to have suffered a major impact collision in it. Later studies revealed that a fairly low-impact rear-end collision would tear the driver and passenger seats off their flimsy rails, thus turning the spines of the unfortunate occupants into strands of cooked spaghetti, resulting in head-to-toe paralysis. Ouch. I loved my '67 Bug, but I was lucky.

I too have a 67 Not an original vehicle, but cobbled together from available parts both aftermarket and original when restored in 2008. It's a kick to drive and attracts much admiring eyes. Todays roads are populated by much taller vehicles than were around in 1967 operated by frequently distracted drivers. So the Beetle must be driven with extreme caution. I replaced the generic aftermarket fuel tank cap with an original found on eBay. I also have a no longer functioning Motorola Sapphire V. Happy Beetling!

I’ve been watching all the KZbin videos on restoring. I wouldn’t be concerned about it being original. In fact the new EV conversion kits ($$$) and I would like more mileage, but the performance and maintenance have been really impressive, especially in there torque and top speed. No more taking a run at it before going up hill. I had a66 and 69 during the same time as you. Probably 300,000 miles plus. Many wonderful memories. Stay safe and sound…

Looks great. Imagine what it looked like when new with white walls. I drove a 1967 as a daily driver for 20 years logging over 500,000 miles on the body. Many parts unique or shared with the 1966. As I recall: front headlight fenders, rear engine lid, wheels and hub caps, brown electrical control relay, Sapphire V (years to find a working one in an auto salvage near Sierra Vista, Az.), window up/down mechanism, back up halogens, transmission has special switch to turn them on, anti-roll attachments on swing arms, wiper motor set up. Plus others I cannot remember. Be sure to have battery in a plastic container like boats have or acid eats through the pan. It's good to see it's in the hands of someone who appreciates and can take care of it. 🙂

Amazing 67, love it! I hate to be the one to say about the fuel filter above the distributor but it looked like it had a worrying bend. With the amount of engine fires I would think about changing those lines / use fuel line clips and maybe moving the filter. I just picked up a filter holder that attaches to the gear box so it’s totally out of the engine bay. I know a lot of people have them in with no problem but the position / bend worried me enough to come and say something. Lovely car again though, I am currently fixing up a 70 1200 that has a similar look!

In my opinion this was the best year for the Beetle. It had the bigger engine, and 12 volt electrics and front seats without headrests. while retaining much of the style of the pre 1968 bugs. Yet is also had some of the features of the 1968 and newer bugs such as the upright headlights and flat spot on the trunk lid for the license plate. The newer bugs just look clunkier and seem more claustrophobic inside with those high backed seats. The early bugs were more delicate looking. I had a 1958 bug in high school. While it was already 10 years old then, it was a jewel to me as it was my ticket to freedom. I am now 72 years old and am seriously thinking of buying an old-school bug again.

My '67 Beetle was stolen three times. I got it back twice. The first time it was stolen, it ran out of gas and was just left on the roadside. After paying massive fees for towing, I got it back. The second time it was stolen, it had brake problems and wasn't safe to drive, so again it was ditched, and I had to pay another big towing and storage fee. The third time it was stolen, it was gone forever. I loved that car and miss it dearly. Houston sucks.

I worked at a VW dealership circa 1968. The cars came of the boat at the Port of Wilmington, DE. Solvent was used to wash off the cosmoline coating. The bumpers were big and ugly compared to the slender sculpted ones the year before.

My parents bought a 1958,63 ,and a 67 Beetle Brand new they ordered the Darker Green on their 67,but got this color instead my Dad kept the Car and because it was easy to pick out on the road. he and that car was referred to as Bob and The GreenMachine ! he always took my Mom and a few of her Aunts Christmas Shopping and my Mom referred to him as a Master. of tying anything onto rhe outside of the Bug allowing room for the passengers to sit one year heladies found brand new Banana Seat bikes on sale and myself and 2 of my Cousins got shiny new bikes for Christmas ! Mom said they often he to ride home with the windows open because he ran the rope through both windows and windows ver the Roof when we were little children. he had to tie Playpens wrapped in blankets or other baby items for those he tied them generally to the rear Deck Lid i spent many miles bsleeping on the rear Package Tray with a small pillow and blanket my Mom made to match the Car ! i’ve owned a few Aircooled and Watercooled VWs myself one was a 72 and my Dad and I pulled the engine to freshen it up with a $113.00 Brazilian made Piston Ring and Gasket set many of my VW Buddies told me those kits were junk and don’t use it get O.E.M. German only. it’s ironic as i grew up in SouthFlorida and many of the VW guys are still there playing withBeetles ,Sand Rails , and other Aircooled VW toys that Bug is long gone as it just rusted away beyond a safety thing. i pulled the motor and today that motor is still running in it’s too many cars to keep track of but those guys will tell me every few years my engine is still going strong ! BTW there was one Gasket we had to remake by hand cause the one in the kit wasn’t cut correctly no biggie i had given the Car to my Sister fora College Car she beat the hell out of it and gave it back to me running and driving and when i pulled the motor i dropped it off at the ScrapYard after hours with a signed Title and the Key in the Ignition

Awesome VW, we had a 1967 Red one with cream interior, and a 1971 light blue sun roof black interior Super Beatle, loved both of the car and would love to have another one.

I had a 67 in the 80s. The body panels had thinner metal in 68 so the 67 is more sought after

67 was the best year for the Beetle. 12 volts, powerful engine, heavy bumpers. After 68 they just got cheap and chintzy. No wonder people bought Datsuns and Toyotas.
