Advanced Rules to Use Indefinite Articles in Brazilian Portuguese | When to Use UM, UMA, UNS, UMAS

BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE ARTICLES - Learning how to use the INDEFINITE ARTICLES in Portuguese may seem a bit challenging, but it is a matter of practice. In today's lesson, you will learn that while English has only two Indefinite Articles ('a /an') Portuguese has four of them - 'um', 'uma', 'uns', 'umas'. You will also learn that regarding use, there are some similarities between both languages, but there are also some differences, for example, in Portuguese, you don't often use articles before occupations ("Eu sou professora" x "I am a teacher").
It is highly recommended that you rewatch the lessons on Genders since Indefinite Articles in Portuguese must agree in gender (and number) with the noun referred.

Oi Carl, tudo bem, e você? Posso sim! Mas lembre-se 'pequeno' é usado para tamanho e é o contrário de 'grande', e 'pouco' é usado para quantidade, tempo, sendo o oposto de 'muito'.

Quanto à sua primeira pergunta, vou encaminhar o link de um artigo bem esclarecedor sobre o uso de 'um/uma' antes de profissões. sofiapulicitranslations.com/2016/12/28/artigo-indefinido-ao-traduzir-profissoes/ Quanto à diferença entre alguns/algumas e uns/umas, acho melhor fazermos algumas comparações. 1. Singular: 'He invited a friend' = 'Ele convidou um amigo' Plural: 'He invited some friends' = 'Ele convidou uns amigos' 2. Singular: 'He invited one friend' = 'Ele convidou um amigo' (quantificador) Plural:'He invited some friends' = 'Ele convidou alguns amigos' (quantificador) Mas essa não é uma regra tão rígida.
