I’m so glad you found your way to Rabindranath Tagore! He was a Nobel laureate from the state of West Bengal in India. He also is credited with writing and composing the national anthems of both India and Bangladesh. I really hope you’ll enjoy his book of poems, Gitanjali!🖤

Heidi is a beautiful story of a little girl who loves living in Mount Alps with her grandpa. I remember reading it as a kid and crying when heidi was moved to Frankfurt, she missed the mountains so much she began sleepwalking and how she saved up soft buns for Peter's granny. Thanks for recommending it. Gotta go back and read it again

The goldfinch is Donna tartts best book-- I constantly tell my friends to skip the secret history all together and just read the goldfinch. It demands a lot but is so rewarding!!! Ps: Theo survives a terrorist attack, not a car crash, though a car crash plays an important role later in the book

Hi, Emma! I'm from Ukraine. I highly recommend you to read Lesya Ukrainka's "The Forest Song". This drama is a great masterpiece of Ukrainian culture. It's a mysterious fairy-tale of love, traditions, freedom and the irresistible power of nature. And also the mood of this masterpiece, may remind you the song "Shum" by Go_A (was performed in Eurovision this year). I hope you enjoy it. Thanks)

Your task to read a book from every country is interesting. I’ve never read a novel from Norway, but I have read and enjoyed several of the plays of Henrik Ibsen. As you asked what we are reading for July, I’m reading a book that I had when I was a child, but never got around to reading before - The Abandoned by Paul Gallico. Published in 1950, it tells the story of a little boy who turns into a cat. He is befriended by a tabby named Jennie, who gives him cat lessons. Lesson one: “When in doubt, wash.”

The Stranger (or The Outsider, depending on the translation) by Albert Camus is based in Algeria! It has one of the most famous opening lines in French literature: Mother died today, or, maybe yesterday, I can’t be sure. It’s written in colonial Algeria and explores the relationship between the settled French who have been living there for centuries and the native Arabs as well as what it truly means to be guilty of a crime

I have just picked up Sophie's World, by Jostein Gaarder (from Norway). I did read it decades ago, now I wanna experience it again as an adult. My next pick will probably be Time and the Wind, by Erico Verissimo (from Brazil), which is a huge family saga. These should probably take me at least as far as August.

Not sure about audio version, but you should definitely read sth from Nikolai Gogol (for Ukraine) - Dead Souls or The Government Inspector (some of his best novels). some will argue he's Russian author tho, but he was born at what is now Ukrainian territory, so technically it counts as a Ukrainian read.
