Would you recommend reading the entire series, or is there a certain point you'd suggest to stop at? It seems to be a long series and I worry that the later books might not be as good!
@MrSunglasses3 жыл бұрын
@@chiroptophilia honestly, I’d recommend reading just the first, third, and the fifth book. The second book is not as good and you can skip it. Same goes for book 4 because it’s just a compilation of letters Anne sent to Gilbert. The rest of the series is about Anne’s kids, which is not as fun. For more info, I’d recommend watching Drinking by my shelf’s readathon of the series! Hope this helps!

Emma, hi :) I just wanted to thank you so much for your videos and actually for the person you are as well. I haven't been feeling the best and your videos, your channel, your reccomendations, even the main colors in your videos and visuals, everything has been kinda my safe place to go in these troubling times in my life. I don't know you personally but just being in here, watching your videos made me feel okay, I felt like you were my friend. You've helped me so much without even knowing. I just thought maybe knowing that you made this anxious girl from across the ocean happy might make you happy too, I know everyone needs to feel that sometimes. Thank you so much for what you put out into the world with your time and effort. I have some amazing books in my mind that I think you might love but I'm from Turkey and most of our literature isn't translated except Pamuk ofcourse. Actually you made me want to read Pamuk but I'm waiting for winter to read some of his works :D Anyhow, I just wanted to say thank you and I truly hope you have an amazing day, amazing life. You deserve it so much, I'm so happy that I've come across you. Thanks for making my safe place possible, with your words, your philosophy, your books and ofcourse your plants :) Thank you so much for making me feel accepted. Happy reading :) and just... thank you. Btw: I don't know if you read it but Women Who Run With The Wolves is the most perfect book to read, to see myths and fairytales about women impoverment. There are so many tales about the power of women but they are not wildy promoted like the rest of the tales we see implemented today and they mostly belong to minority populations, book really goes into their histories as well. I really think you would really love it, it's one of my favourite books of all time. It's filled with folklore and what every little symbolism means. It's truly a great book. And Siddharta by Herman Hesse is a great place to start Budishm as well :))) It's basically the story of Buddha himself by the lenses of fiction and storytelling.

Anne of Green Gables was converted into a teledrama in Sri Lanka and I was in love. I watched it everyday. It was not just a teledrama but kind of a musical too. The songs were beautiful. And it was set in the coldest area in Sri Lanka - Nuwaraeliya. The location was breathtaking. All those flowers, the beautiful lake, pine trees, the mist and Anne's beautiful home make me want to run back to my childhood. Also I was a huge fan of Emily ofNew Moon which is also written by Lucy Maud Montgomery. I hope you'd read it Emmie and tell us your thoughts. It may not be as good as Anne but it's still very likeable 🤗❤️
@sophiependragon84853 жыл бұрын
Rilla of Ingleside, the last book from the Anne series, is often forgotten but it is a literary masterpiece, and has also a great historical value, as it is the only canadian book contemporary to the first world war that portraits the war from the perspective of a woman, and was also one of the first non-Australian texts to mention the Gallipoli campaign and what happened there with the ANZACs. Although less known, I also recommend you, from the same author (L. M. Montgomery), my other favourite books ever: the trilogy of Emily of New Moon, which is like the gothic version of Anne of Green Gables, but is also quite different from the Anne Shirley books. The Emily books are highly based on L.M.Montgomery's life, and Alice Munro considered them to be the best books in Canadian Literature.

Another good book of LM Montgomery is The Story Girl. You pretty much just follow the main character's life over the years as he lives out his sentence of exile in 'The Metropol' Hotel in Moscow, starting in the 1920's and ending in the 1950's. The writing is so nice and witty, I can definitely recommend it! :)
