Oscar, Although some states require a reverse light, that is not the reason they are not street legal nor is the transmission not having a park setting an issue either. The reason a lot of recent humvees are not street legal is because of the paperwork and titling process that is released from the government not allowing them to be used on public roads. The paperwork on most public auction humvees are clearly stamped "off road use only" from the government. It's important to know when buying a Humvee for public road use that it has a clear title that is not restricted to off road use. It's all in the paper work from the government. It has very little if anything to do with mud flaps, reverse lights, or a park on the transmission.

Beautiful vehicles but, the only thing I see in the truck versions is the rear bulk head still allows water in underneath if you get any water in the bed.
@planbsupply93186 жыл бұрын
You are correct, water can still find its way inside. We have a few designs that help reduce that amount drastically, and first quarter of 2018 we have a new design for the rear of cab where it meets the bed that will hopefully eliminate all water from the bed from seeping into the cab. While the vehicle is designed to drain water fairly nicely, anything we can keep out in the first place makes it easier to keep our gear dry, which makes for happy wife, happy pets, happy kids, and happy gear! (FYI...parking on a slope with the nose of the vehicle pointing down will make any seal difficult to keep a bathtub of water out. Keep the nose high)

+webdesign212 Again, as repeated before...we work with DOD approved methods, contracts, contractors, inspection stations, state and local Dmv offices, and we get approval FROM THE GOVERNMENT in everything we do. If you go to our website, there is a disclaimer about a few different areas such as Denver Colorado that if you don't meet everything the STATE requires in specific areas, you can be denied registration for public road use. It's important to know these requirements, and to match up a Humvee (all are not the same in the eyes of smog laws) that best fulfills or is exempt from those requirements for a registration and title for on road use. It's not rocket science, but you WILL be DENIED registration in a FEW places if you don't get the right yr, model, engine, etc to comply with strict smog enforcement areas. webdesign212, I have heard the same things you are claiming for years. It simply is not true. Please please please do a little research. When it comes to split rims, there are different styles of split rims that are illegal to use on public highways, so I don't fault you 100 percent on that claim. Any split rim with a separate outside locking ring is EXTREMELY dangerous and have been banned from being MADE for on-highway use. But not ALL split rims are the same. Please visit any Jeep forum, and ask why everyone is buying conversion plates to install 8lug split Humvee wheels on their 5 lug jeeps. (Hint...it's because they are DOT approved and they also offer on road and incredible off-road value, thus no wheel changing all the time) you could also call DOT and give them the wheel info and find out that way as well. (Hint: they have a DOT stamp on the actual rim if you want to save time wondering.) And I repeat...again...(sigh)....the weight of a stock military Humvee is 5200lbs. The weight of a stock H1 hummer is 7847-8117lbs. (Thus the well documented difference in power for get up and go on a stock military Humvee vs a civilian H1 hummer) The stock military Humvee with a 6.2 non-turbo can outrun a stock 6.5 turbo equipped H1. It's because of the weight. Soldiers always talk about how much the civilian model H1 felt like a dog compared to the basic Humvee. The Humvee weighs more than 2600lbs less than the H1. All of this is discovered in less than 3 seconds with a simple google search "curb weight of Humvee" "curb weight of hummer H1". I invite you to use this easily accessible technology to enlighten yourself. I appreciate your concern for others, and your attempt to protect the public. It's truly noble. But I fear you are becoming irrelevant. If it help...just enjoy your $80,000 H1 Hummer, and have peace of mind knowing everything you did to acquire it was perfectly legal, safe, and DOT approved. We will try and keep up with you.

Tyson: First: Split rims are not illegal. But they are regulated. These rims ARE DOT approved. And they are dual beadlock. (Nice) Second: Humvees don't weigh 12k lbs. They weigh 5200lbs. No special license required. Tow them behind your Camry. (I'm kidding) Third: Paperwork paperwork paperwork. Proper paperwork from the government is how you get a street legal Humvee. If you get one with paperwork from the government that is stamped "off road use only" then chances are it is a public auction Humvee and that is most likely where most people will be able to use it...off road only. Our Humvees are cleared for street legal use from the government, and will come registered and titled as such before delivery to anyone. We don't cut up Humvees, and weld vin numbers from other vehicles onto the frame of the Humvee. (I would think such a practice is looked upon as illegal in most areas and would never recommend dealing with anybody doing this kind of practise.)
@t20698 жыл бұрын
+webdesign212 You OBVIOUSLY are misinformed and don't quite know what you're talking about...and it pains me to even reply to this rambling nonsense...BUT it needs to be done. First, because you've owned (or still own) a H1, it doesn't make you any sort of expert on Humvees...just a familiar owner of the H1. You also paid $80,000 for having a status when you could have bought a Humvee for half the price and more "Ooos and Ahhs". You're not a car guy either or you would know that next to where it says "10,300 lbs", it says "GVWR"...which that's your maximum operating weight/mass. Your curb weight is only 6,814 lbs. for a stock 2002 H1. A two door soft top Humvee without the rear cargo/troop cover is just over 5900 lbs...and I have a weight slip to show for it. I haven't weighed my 4dr yet, but I'm certain it's not much more. The GVWR for M998 Humvees is 7,700 lbs. Other models are more (M1097 is 10,000 lbs I believe). Next, certain Humvees are demil code "Q". I won't go into the code specifics, because the internet is a great place to educate yourself, but they do NOT have to be crushed or scrapped. Certain Humvee models have a different demil code and do have to be scrapped (newer uparmored ones...like the M1114? Idk exactly). The ones Plan B sells, or the ones sold at auction to the public do not need to be and are sold with a clean title (Plan B) or an SF-97 (GovPlanet). You don't need a 17-digit VIN in all states, and if you do, the state assigns one (like California) after passing a vehicle inspection. Last thing I'll point out here is that Progressive will insure your Humvee...because that's where mine is insured! You should inform yourself before bashing a legitimate company, or other people who have actually done research on this topic.
@t20698 жыл бұрын
+webdesign212 Sorry, your wagon's curb weight is 7,158 lbs, not the 6,814 lbs originally quoted. The 6,814 is for the 4dr soft-top. ...but see how easy it is to research and quote facts? I'm no expert on H1's, but the correct information is out there.
@t20698 жыл бұрын
+webdesign212 LOL I'm wrong? Look. You have no clue what you're talking about and the more you say the more ignorant you look. Also, the more you talk about owning a H1, the more I think you're a liar too. Anyone can...wait for it...GOOGLE PICTURES of the H1 and see exactly what the the weight is...directly off a rig. :)

Plan B Supply, With the recent flooding in Houston TX, I have a modified f250 lifted. 2 of my buddies went to houston and did some rescueing of stranded individual and even animals. In your opinion, what would be the all around military vehicle to go through high flood waters or any terrain to say. And do you have it set with a snorkel system and the cab is some what or pretty much water proof. for the past 2 years we had been going down to Houston and just help stranded people, but would like to get something that is more heavy duty and can stand the harsh condition. The only thing i can think of is getting military vehicles due to they go through hell and back and still keep kicking.

JDmarkman, executive order 10990, which John F. Kennedy signed in 1962. The order reestablished a council to oversee safety of civilian federal employees. It did not allow a government takeover of the nation’s seaports, highways and other modes of transportation. That is a much debunked false claim. We have friends who are high rank generals who took over airports, equipment etc during Katrina, hurricane Sandy etc. If you are not around and your stuff is usable, they may end up using it without your permission, but if you are present, and deny them from using YOUR owned equipment, they cannot take it.

+PhuckObama Depends on your state for what "street legal" is and if the Humvee you buy conforms to the state's laws. Personally, I have owned two (sold one, and have another) here in Florida, and you can drive them like you get them, assuming that all the lights work (turn signals, brakes, headlights, etc.), has seat-belts, mirrors, horn, wipers. Nothing extra needs to be done usually, but I added a tag light and a back-up light, because our state laws require such.

+t2069 Any chance you'd be able to describe the process of getting this licensed in the state of FL? I'm looking on bidding on one in an auction tomorrow, but concerned with getting a plate for it for street use. I'm in SWFL. Thanks
@t20698 жыл бұрын
+Tony Gottschalk First, if you haven't heard or researched yet, prepare to wait months after you purchase one before you even get possession of it. I hear that it's a minumum of a two month wait right now, with some people waiting nearly a year in some cases. Then keep in mind your rig has been sitting for all this time, so it will need to be serviced immediately. As far as titling goes? In my honest opinion, it's easier to transfer into Florida a clean title from another state than try to title in state initially. It's nearly impossible to get one on the road with a Florida Off-Highway title, and is not worth the headache and hassle of owning a Humvee, but you can't drive it on the road. It's almost better to buy from a private seller since they have dealt with the headache of titling it, in some cases. If you have specific questions, shoot be a private message and I'll be happy answer them or direct you to the answers.

2 questions please: Can the Average HUMVEE from your shop be flat towed ( ie from behind an RV) without removing the drive shafts or adding transmission pump? What does it take paper work wise to register one of these vehicles Thank you
@planbsupply93186 жыл бұрын
We recommend Humvees NOT be towed behind anything long term without having drivelines removes because of the following reason: A Humvee equipped with the 3spd has a temperature controlled transfer case that uses fluid from the transmission to flow into a heat exchanger inside of the transfer case and remove heat from the transfer case during operation. If you were to flat tow the Humvee at high speed for even a short period of time, the transfer case WILL be damaged without the fluid from the transmission flowing thru that heat exchanger. There are many documented cases of flat towing causing damage with drivelines not removed. Flat tow is for emergency only, low speeds and short distances with drivelines still connected. Transmission and transfer case should both be in neutral. As for paperwork, we offer vehicles with titles and registration in the state of Utah. If you are wanting info at paperwork for your own rig or something not from us, we would need to know more details about its condition, location it will be used, and what paperwork it currently has to help you determine what is needed. Feel free to call us anytime and we would be happy to discuss. Thanks for your questions.

What is the general cost to get the humvee road legal. I am thinking about purchasing one in my state(OHIO). Every truck I looked at says "for offroad use only". If I buy one of these, can I still make it road legal through you guys? Thanks.

Yes you can - Best thing to do is have you give us a call at the shop. Thanks!!

Can you drive these Humvees on the road? I have heard that you will burn them up or ruin them because they aren't made for road use.

can these vehicles be converted to 12 volt systems , radio's and such run on 12 volt not 24 volt or do you supply stepdown so12 volt may be used
@planbsupply93186 жыл бұрын
Yes, we can add a 24v to 12v step down and wire in a 12v fuse box to run most 12v components.

If you live in California, it is a no go. You buy one and you cannot register unless for some reason you get lucky? Now the question is, has anyone ever registered one of these in California that were bought from Plan B, Bullet etc... If so, how did you do it?

Hi, would you be able to modify for UK /EU spec and ship them over?
@gosportjamie8 жыл бұрын
I believe some of the UK military surplus dealers can supply HumVees that are ready to use in the UK, and possibly Europe as well, though I'm really not sure given the size of these beasts that one would be particularly usable in the UK given the size of our roads...
